Care to look up for that somewhere?
If so, it's still 50-50, the ref couldn't predict what would happened. CR is fast as fuck, he might have touched the ball a moment later and be 1 on 1 with Buffon. He also might have went to the goal line and cross (which was most likely). It's refs job to predict, but even if he does it wrong, it's not an 'awful' decision as some claim, but 50-50 one.
CHielini did make mistake there, he didnt even look at the ball, but a way to stop CR. He deliberately raised his arm and hit CR. Maybe if he used his body and ran parallel to CR, wouldn't have been red, or even a foul.
We can talk all we want, lots of debate can be made there.
In my opinion giving the position on the pitch where it happened and Chiellini's body position and knowing the actual rule it was never a red card. Ronaldo also milked it with his pathetic acting(he isn't getting any hate around here for it though which I find hypocritical, but whatever...)
When was the ''last man'' red card rule removed?
He was the last man. It's a rule ffs, every professional foul from a last man SHOULD be a red.
That being said, i wouldn't have given red simply for game. It was ruined with that call and it was pretty good game till then. Refs should kind of, 'bend the rules' in such occasions, for the beauty of the game.
He needs to leave Real, I remember how good he was in Lyon. He's never looked confident in Real, except for a few games here and there under Mou.
Imo, it wasn't even a foul. Ronaldo had a bad touch, and Chiellini got in front of him, and was the shielding the ball with his arm. Ronaldo knew he got a bad touch, and went down like a pussy because he knew he lost the duel.
Wait, what? Ronaldo is 10x faster than Chielini, would have definitely run over him and get the ball. Chielini DELIBERATELY stopped him. Chielini didn't even LOOK at the ball, he didn't know where it is, he went straight to Ronaldo to stop him. It was 100% foul, 99% yellow and for red, it's debatable. 50% for me.
