I am not laughing at Arsenal. I am laughing at bookies who had them one of CL favorites. It was ridiculous from the start.

Inter were never one of the favorites (actually they didn't even make it in top 10 on betting sites) so i can't see how our elimination was pathetic.

Just remember that a lot of stuff like that isn't because it's the beliefs of the bookies personally, but because of popularity and the expectation of who's betting that makes the difference. Arsenal are a super popular Premier League team, much like cockroaches you can find Arsenal fans under every rock across the planet. They know they're gonna get a ton of Arsenal fans placing optimistic wagers on their team...it's easy money for the bookies when collection time comes.

with italy almost sure to get the fifth place in CL, we can say that Mazzarri would have led Inter in the CL, with Vidic, Mvila, Dodo..... and not to forget, the goat, ROCCHI. Shame.

Arsenal has much more fans than Inter so they should have more money dropping on. Hence increasing the bookies rank. Thats how they earn money.

Had ManUtd qualified you would see even higher rank.

I find a lot of posters on this forum have a strange fixation and slight obsession with Arsenal. You see Arsenal get brought up all the time here. I'm not sure why. I never considered them a rival team, and I doubt they care about us in the slightest.

There seem to be many among those fans who support other than the English teams that are incredibly fixated about the performance of English teams and the EPL, while fans of that league and of the English teams generally do not care beyond Real, Barca and Bayern.

This is absolutely wrong. Inter kept rising throughout the season due to serie a domination and getting an easy group + on paper a very favourable opponent in the r16, which they bottled. They were 4th favourite on most sites after (or even 3rd) after beating AM 1-0.

They might have been barely been top10 before the groups were drawn, but thats irrelevant. Arsenal themselves got much lower odds after getting a very easy group themselves.

But when talking about odds/favourites like this, its really only relevant at the time of the team exiting the tournament, not 4 months, 10 months or 3 years ago. Teams dont perform in a static environments.

I think February is relevant enough. These were the odds ahead of first matches of round 16:

Inter were never as high on bookies beliefs as you claim them to be. If you can provide proof of Inter being 3rd/4th favorite for bookies i would have no problem being proven wrong.

As for Inter having a very favorable opponent in r16 which they bottled it bookies seemed to disagree. This is from Athletic website:

Inter Milan vs. Atlético Madrid

Odds to advance: Inter -135; Atlético -105

This is the closest Round of 16 tie in terms of the odds. Both teams have minus odds to advance (yikes, that’s a big hold), but Inter is favored. The first leg is in Milan, where Inter is a solid favorite (-115 to win). It’s a tough draw for Atlético, which won its group but still gets last year’s runner-up. Inter is starting to pull away as the leader in Serie A while Atlético is fourth in La Liga, but Diego Simeone sides are nasty to go up against in Europe. Since Simeone took over the club in December of 2011, Atlético has made six Champions League quarterfinals and has won the Europa League twice. It appears the odds show respect for that, considering the gap in league performances this season for the two clubs.

Didnt i specifically write "after beating AM 1-0"? I believe i did. They were 3/4th on all sites at that time after the first game of R16.

And all betting sites had Inter as favourites against AM. Some more evenly than other. Even before the first game where Inter were massive favourites by the bookies. In the second game it was fairly even odds due to how poor AM were in Italy.

Still closer to 4th than "never even been in the top 10" like you claimed.

I dont understand the need for some people here to defend Inters flop in Madrid with some bizzare logic that they were not even top 10 favourites and AM were some kinda super team that we would should lose against 11 times out of 10.

Serie a must be proper trash if the run away leaders, with a better team on paper, arent favourites against a spanish 5th placed (4th now) team thats been thoroughly unimpressive the entire campaign.

Actually, the forum is upset every time we play an EPL club or a LaLiga club, because we usually lose. Chelsea the only exception that really comes to mind and lol, I guess we aren't that bad against Barcelona, 50:50 with Spurs.

Every other team - Arsenal, City, United, Liverpool, Atletico, Real Madrid, Sevilla usually run through us in this competition.

it's a pity that we chose Brazao between Lunin and Brazao
