Good results so far, though i kind of want arsenal to go through just so we could batter them if we get past atletico which is a harder tie. Teams with really european nous and experience, turns out even porto have more of that than arsenal.

The CL has shown so far we are right amongst the best, if we can get through there's a real opportunity here.

ridiciolous defending from martinez at the osihmen goal. And how on earth is it possible that this 16 years old yamal guy is playing from start, in a champions league game? Barca is getting desperate of finding a new Messi, or maybe this guy is really jesus christ of football
Yamal has been playing since last season and even played for Spain, wtf dude

Yamal is really good, especially for his age, but he's also now playing an awful lot of games and for his sake I hope Xavi isn't overdoing it with him like it seems Pedri has been overplayed and had some injury problems as a result. Barcelona have some fucked finances but some of these La Masia guys we've seen this year + Gavi and Pedri are their ticket to surviving this.

Yamal is playing for a reason, he is better than Joao Felix and Rapiña.

Made some calculations.

In previous 5 years, average points total for 2nd place country coefficient is 19.8.

Italy has 15.142 at the moment (106 coefficient points / 7 clubs).

Based on my excel, Italian clubs need 9 wins, 10 draws, 4 quarter-final spots (*), 1 semi-final spot.

(*) not including Fiorentina as ECL quarter-final spot doesn't get you +1p (like in CL/EL).

Other combination of wins/draws/QF-SF-F spots work as well, but that's one.

Maybe a better way is to look the differences between 2nd and 3rd spots in previous years and make some analysis out of that and then do some projections since years vary between 22 points and 18 points for the 2nd spot.

No need for all that. All you have to do is do a projection of the current season :)

Milan went through to EL Round of 16 through knockout playoffs but they lost their second leg. Freiburg same thing, went through but they won their second leg. So that's advantage for the Germans. Fucking European DNA we have here.

Anyway, Germany are second in country coefficients so they are probably Italy's biggest rival. Spain is at tough spot as they had 8 teams total this season in European comps but they have now 3 teams out already. Sevilla and Osasuna went out earlier, Betis went out today in ECL. If we put Atletico out, Spain won't probably catch anyone anymore, even if Real goes and wins the whole thing.

Roma is trying to go to the Round of 16 in EL aswell against Feyenoord at home as we speak.

Well the 2 best get 5 places. Eintracht also just went out of Europe, so thats good. Lets see if Roma wont fuck up.

It depends on the draw but i don't think Freiburg will go far. The real problem in EL is gonna be Leverkusen.

Have to continue with this.

I forgot Sociedad. So Spain will have only 3/8 teams left if we kick Atletico out and Sociedad most probably goes out with their 2-0 deficit against PSG (though anything can happen).

Germany has now Union Berlin, Eintracht and soon Leipzig out. So they gonna be 4/7. Leverkusen is a force, Bayern and Dortmud I think will advance to QFs, but maybe stop there?

Italy's situation is great at the moment but might change drastically in the CL 2nd leg phase. And Roma has troubles beating Feyenoord at home which isn't great. On top of Milan being fucken losers with their DNA. Maybe Atalanta and Fiorentina are the flag-carriers with us (given we'll get the job done).

A lot depends on Inter, actually. I don't trust any other Italian club to go far in their competition, while Inter is expected to reach the semis... and even if we do, Germany might still outperform Italy

CL expectations depend a lot on the draw. No one was demanding from Inter to reach the final last season but after the draw it was kinda an obligation (semis for sure) and a huge opportunity.

It's a similar case this season. If we got City or Real in the next round no one would expect semis. But with everyone else it would be at least open (in some cases Inter would be clear favorites).

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. It isn't over with Atletico yet.

In most cases Inter would be favourite, which is why I said semis is expected. Just what people are talking about, this is the most respect Inter is getting in a while from foreign media.

Ofc, Atletico can still win the tie, but the discourse is Inter is strong, they can go far.
