Winner of Atletico-Dortmund faces winner of PSG-Barcelona in semifinal. Ok. That sucks
We would be in the final!!

Ah, wasn't meant to be this year. The only consolation is points record and Lautaro hattrick vs Maignan on 21st April.

Apart from rfu i have probably watched more Dortmund games than rest of the forum. They're not a bad team by any means. But they have certain limitations. We would have been the big favorites in that fixture. We have better quality in almost all areas.
Dortmund have a better keeper, Fulkrug and Sabitzer doing their thing. However Terzi a garbage coach. Emre Can is straight the worst player in football. Provided no injuries or suspensions Inter winning both legs. Wouldve been a hilarious match up for me all the same.

We had a very nice draw last season, and this season we had an easy group and a tough but a beatable opponent in the last 16. Nothing to be sorry about imo Great season, we are contenders again, a lot to be positive about if financial stuff don't sink us

City will take care of Real. Dortmund over Atletico. Bayern over Arsenal and PSG over Barca.

"Easy" is probably not accurate, especially in hindsight. Actually knowing how it all went down, one more strong team and we might have ended up in 3rd.

Benfica was that strong team (not now, but then definitely) who had a bad run.

Our approach was to use heavy rotation and get through to the next round only to see people revise history and bitch that Lautaro didn't score enough from the bench or that we didn't top a group where we fielded a Serie B calibre gk a few times.

Sure, I agree. Somebody will always be a favourite. But it's not like any of the remaining 8 teams (7 if you hypothetically progress Inter forward) are considerably worse than us. There would be easier opponents, but no easy opponent. If we played like we did against Atletico in both ties, we aren't beating this Dortmund

Atletico shut us down, it's not that we played poorly.

We demonstrated that we could have had a few scoring chances and our goal also was a usual Inter goal this season.
If anything that game confirmed that we are a great side, managed to be dangerous even if the similar quality opposition played almost perfectly.

My bold prediction is Madrid derby in the final, or Atletico vs. Bayern

Imo P$G and Arsenal are overrated af.

That's football. Great sides always find chances. The problem isn't getting to the chances, it's the execution (and also Thuram losing the ball because of necessary flicks which meant less possible chances for us)

I'm just wondering why are people so sure that we would beat Dortmund when against Atletico we missed about 5 clear chances that we usually would score. Ofc there is no guarantee we would miss so many chances again, but just saying, that shit can really happen. Sometimes we can be our own worst enemies

Atletico missed a couple of clear chances as well close to the 90 minute mark, one of them was Griezman if I remember well. Maybe our strikers are as wasteful as the other strikers in the top 8 of CL, bar the ones from City, Bayern, Real and PSG’s Mbappe. Unfortunately we can’t afford that quality, hence we don’t belong to the absolute top of CL, but we are certainly on par with the likes of Ateltico.

We try to outplay our opponent in order to win, which is graceful, but also unfortunately not always feasible at the top stages of CL, i.e, at times it’s gonna go to the wire and you need that quality upfront to convert the few chances you get. Or you need substitutes (like Depay) that can give you the one play where they are decisive.

We now need to get ourselves together, get the scudetto and aim at going further in CL next year. if we can reach top 8 consistently and top 4 at times in the next 4/5 years, that would be very good outcome for Inter given the current financial situation and the club will gain the global recognition as a force to be reckoned with. Consistency can also mean that in one occasion we get the luck needed to make the push to the very end.

I'd say that, away game atmosphere made more difference than anything else. Atletico was still quite vulnerable despite playing "perfectly", sadly we couldn't take advantage of that because we were too weak mentally and most of times ran away from responsibility. We have struggled quite a lot in these kind of intense matches, and I wish that our players would be able to overcome times like this.

Disagree on the mentality, no one coverts every chancee 100% of the time and of course atmosphere contributed - that’s football
