That´s not what happened.
Fucile in the end of the season didn´t start playing, as usual, as a RB for us because Uruguay lasted until the last stages of the WC and he needed rest.
Since he didn´t start the season with the team we started playing Sapunaru instead of him and he was beeing really good, unlike last season when he was below average.
Fucile was regaining his form and AVB started making squad rotating between them but at first Fucile made some terrible games, some of his bad interventions cost us goals so Sapunaru gain the spot for quite a long time.
But during the season Fucile managed to overcome the bad games he had in the past and started making some wonderful games showing a lot of will to making an impression again in the 1st 11.
He eventually regained the spot as our RB but the reason why he didn´t play the final was not because our manager chose Sapunaru over him, it was because Fucile was injured. He broke his collarbone on the away match against Spartak and wasn´t able to recover for the final.
IMO Fucile is still the better player but Sapunaru made great improvements this season.
Fucile is better in the attack, faster, has good skills and is a OK crosser. Can play both as LB and as RB without his performance dropping (which has been a really good asset for us in the last seasons).
Sapunaru is a better marker, he´s more focus on the defensive job and doesn´t risk as much with the ball on his feet as Fucile. He´s physically stronger and a much better header. Can play both as a RB and as a CB even though we only played him as a CB twice and it was because of injuries during this matches.
