for the national team both Sporar and Verbic are mostly horrible. Verbic in general has been pretty bad the last two seasons, while before he was actually a solid winger... unfortunately never for Slovenia tho. So, I guess Cerin is overall the best player right now, but I did not watch lots of his games, so i can't really say how big his potential is. Sporar should be able to score at least 10 goals for Panathinaikos. He's pretty bad with the ball, but he does sometimes get into a great position to score, so i don't think he will have a big problem in the Greek league. So yea, Verbic in form is the best of them all, but as of right now he's by far the worst.
Also I dont even wanna compare these players based on the national team performance, cause over the last 10 years Slovenia has been playing dog shit football. I can only say, thank god for Sesko. Now if we only had 2 more players of that quality on the field.
Cerin has been a pleasant surprise. We didn't expect him to be great, just a rotation piece, but it feels like he's a lock for the starting spot even after signing two players on the final day (was like 10 days ago) that occupy the same spot and in other circumstances would have been considered better choices.
He does everything, defend, control the ball, attack the box, distribute well. The only thing I noticed is that he was a bit off tactically but that could just be a familiarity/settling issue.
From Sporar I've seen a player that knows how to move in the box and can occasionally pass well, but he also gives clumsy vibes so I get what you mean. But if he stays healthy (had an ugly knock in the previous league game with the opposing GK and was subbed off but evidently he's okay from that) he'll get closer to 20 goals in Greece. It's really shit tier league and the team is probably the strongest in the league as of now. Will depend if the team can get it on or if we suffer a typical breakdown after the first bad result.
He does need a lot of chances to get a goal, but he's almost always in the right place.
Verbic will have some trouble getting into the starting lineup soon since our two best players are wingers and the guy playing on the left is on the form of his life. Haven't seen anything from Verbic yet that says "the lineup starts with my name" but I know his resume. He was really good with Copenhagen and Dynamo Kyiv before the pandemic. Not sure if the injury he had last year is to blame or some mental breakdown from the whole shitfest he's been through in the last 2.5 years.
Slovenia will be Pot 3 in the draw and Pot 2 may have teams like Israel, Bosnia, Albania, Iceland, Montenegro etc for some weird UEFA reason, so if they get one of those and get an easier team from Pot 4 they could be in the Euro. Really liked the 2000 and 2002 teams, so maybe I'll get a new soft spot for them in 2024. (The 2010 team felt too vanilla and losing to England when you could have sent them home did it for me
)
