Italy lineup announced: Donnarumma; Florenzi, Bonucci, Chiellini, Biraghi; Verratti, Jorginho, Barella; Bernardeschi, Insigne, Chiesa

Its takes balls to start that young, inexperienced line up in midfield and attack 2 games in a row, after the press slaughtered the Azzurri just 3 days ago. But in the long term, this is the right approach as those 6 represent the best midfield/attacking talent available in Italy at the moment. The only way these guys will get better is if they play regularly for the Azzurri, and there aren't many games before the Euro qualifiers start.

I am a bit pleasantly surprised by Mancini in this new job. I had assumed he would revert to type very soon with a double or triple pivot and physical & experienced players to get results, but so far he has been refreshingly focused on developing new talent. Lets hope this continues.

So far, great game by the young Azzurri. They are dominating the play away at Poland, creating a lot of chances. Should have scored a few already, hit the bar a couple of times. You can see the nucleus of a great future side, finally we Azzurri fans can have some hope.

Biraghi is shit. Oh what am I saying, Italy IS shit.

Typical Mancini team, clueless and disorganized.

I know it's Mancini and shit doesn't need to make sense, but I really don't get this notion of Insigne as a lone false nine.

I personally think the false 9 is a good idea at the mo, for two reasons:

1. The way Immobile, Balotelli, & co have been playing, including them is like playing with a man down

2. Italy's biggest problem in the last few years has been that final pass that creates good goal chance. Playing without a striker is forcing the team to forget about endless long balls and crosses, and attempt that pass. And its working, there have been about 10 such chances already created in this game. On another day with some better finishing/luck, Italy could have scored 4 or 5 goals.

This is a new side, we need to give them a lot of time to start gelling. SO far from what I see, I like. This feels like an Azzurri side again after a long time.

Piatek did not play, therefore Piatek did not score.

I don't get the criticism here. Yesterday the Azzurri played probably the best football since Conte's team beat Spain at Euro 2016. If Bernardeschi & co were a bit more ruthless in front of goal (or if Szczesny didn't have such a great game) the score could have been 4-0 or 5-0. Not sure what people are expecting out of this inexperienced Azzurri, but I didn't expect them to play this good so soon.

I think most of us would consider Insigne, Cheisa, Bernardeschi, Jorginho, Barella & Verratti amongst the most talented Italian midfielders and attackers at the mo. I had my doubts about that midfield, but was very impressed yesterday with the one touch play and overall creativity. You need balls to start all of them at the same time, and Mancio has been very brave with his selections so far.

What is shocking is that only 1 player out of yesterday's entire midfield and attack started in each game against Sweden. Fucking Ventura.

they played well,I watched the game...except Bernardeschi is Candreva 2.0. Jesus what an overrated player.Mancio man should be playing

Chiesa-Insigne-Politano
Verratti-Jorginho-Barella

but the moron doesn't even call our boy up...whateva

anyway Italy should have scored way more than 1x,well Polando wasted a few glorious chances too.If everything went in we would see a 5-3 for Italy result lol.

Sterling takes the lead for England with a beautiful finish. This is going to be a great game though.

Rashford makes it 2-0, have to mention Kane's assist was world class

But De Gea didn't move and he didn't close him out at the edge of the area. Sub him out Spain, he's past it!
