I taped the game but I checked the score anyway. My history when it comes to trying to keep myself isolated from results is atrocious, so i checked the result and watched the game a day later.
I saw the game in serenity and knowing the score I was more concerened about the performace of our players. Overall, the team played well and played organized. Mancini has changed his tactics, now he is opting for a more cautious and counter-attacking scheme. That was evident by the recent trend of fielding a real DM and minimzing wing-play.
As Jimmy and Jake said, the result was a bit flattering. That's because we let Valencia dictate the play, but when we had possession it was our rules. Not like before, now we have players that can dribble out of trouble and that can perfect one touch passes. On many occassions it was these simple through passes that got us out of trouble and in some cases resulted in goals.
I have to mention two players, first, Cambiasso. The addition of this player to our squad has seen us improve defensively. He can stop an attack with ease and he is able to distirbute the ball rightfully. He is really becoming an important player for us.
Second, Favalli. This was the best game i see him play. He didn't have a spectacular game, but it was solid nonetheless. This is exactly what we need, solid play. We have enough flare in other departments that we can afford to have a dull Left flank. He was bad in some situations, but this was the best game i see a left-back of us having in a long time. I hope he is showing us what he can do , and i hope this is the start of something good.
Finally, i have to mention Adriano. You had a good day when the opposing fans applaud you when you leave. That's either because they are happy you are leaving the pitch and sparing their team some embarassment, or they really appreciate your talent. In either case it shows you are great. I still can't figure out how he did that 180 move on Navarro. Had he scored...
