Eager but little end product. Not entirely his fault considering he was playing out of position but I expected more.
It does seem Conte instructs us to attack with width, especially in the absence of Sensi who is our only midfielder who likes to attack the spaces centrally. I think how wide Vecino and Gagliardini have played most of the time is evidence of that.
I was expecting / hoping for Lazaro to cut inside more and run at goal like an inverted winger. Instead, he mainly played near the touch line and tried to take the ball past his man out wide, with little success.
Again, not sure if this is Conte’s instruction or not but I don’t see the point of starting him on the left if he’s just going to play like a traditional wide man, just on the wrong flank.
