I agree, but it's too easy for us to sit on our arses and say who we prefer.

The Wellington deal is probably gonna be a dozen times easier than trying to get Fernando, dealing with Porto is never easy.

He doesn't convince me @ all, he looks like Gargano 2.0 + those bad injuries he had on both knees...

It's not about making Branca's job easier, but about getting the proper players for the coach.

We will eventually get someone, we just need to find other stuff to do until the end of mercato. :work:

Proper players cannot be obtained when

1. We dont have the money
2. We can't offer the wage
3. We cannot compete with other teams

We dont have such a problem in dealing with Wellington in this case.

Its not about making Branca's job easy, but its about obtaining realistic players within realistic timeframe using realistic budget.

Well in this particular case I would rather stick to the budget and wait/try for other opportunities.
Hell, I would rather keep Olsen and perhaps even Duncan if no other midfielder can be signed, except this Wellington [I really doubt it though].

We were just talking about Fernando and Wellington.

So the discussion about other possible alternatives isn't really relevant.

All I am saying is, Fernando is probably out of reach for us, and Wellington isn't. So it isn't up to us to say who we prefer.

I hope I have put it clearer for you to understand. I can't explain it in simpler terms.

It depends on Mazzarri`s priorities - CDM or wide man. If he pushes for Isla (and he should, Pereira is not good enough) then maybe we could settle for a less expensive solution, such as: 2m loan for Wellington + Fernando on free transfer next season (always more options next season, Duncan could be also ready for Serie A)...

There are lots of possibilities for the club, while other opportunities will arise until 02/09. I don't think we should limit ourselves to these 2 options.

We're not limiting ourselves to these two options, we're simply discussing whether we would have one or the other, given these two options.

Which is of clear difference to we have no other choices in this mercato.

Porto isnt Inter, they won't wait til he starts to play like a bitch to get rid of him. They will know before that and dump him off before he loses any value.

Hmm, you got a point, but it's unlikely we can get Fernando at the price they want to sell.

But then again, we're probably Porto's favorite buyer by now, so if Fernando happens to be just a hyped up crap player, then they might do a deal with us.

But as I have mentioned this nearly a dozen times, if he happens to be able to tackle, capable of running, then I suppose it's an upgrade, and he's more than welcomed!

The question is more will Fernando agree to leave or not, tbh.

If he rides this season out he is in for a big payday signing with some team as a free agent.

Same thing seem to be happening with Christian Atsu.

He will agree to leave because it's a World Cup year. He has made it clear in the past he would like to move on to a tougher league with more exposure so he can get a chance with Brazil.

Getting the player's agreement was never a problem for our mighty Branca.

It is just that he needs to negotiate with clubs with no money on hand that's the problem. He isn't a magician afterall.

Fuck Fernando, fuck Wellington, and fuck Gustavo.

Allan Marques of Udinese is the PERFECT player for the CDM position.

Young, talented, high technique in passing and tackling, and affordable.

I've been calling for us to pick up Allan since he was with Vasco.

We were actually pretty close, very close even - and for a very affordable price - but for some reason just totally backed out.

He's not a star or anything like that, but he's a perfect utility role player, with great character - and the + side for him is he could play both in the midfield and as a RWB - both position he played in Vasco and with the Brazilian youth sides, and did well in either one of those.

His technique and passing aren't that great though, it's pretty irregular at times and in general just solid. His tireless mobility, tackling and especially dribble are the highlight of his game.

The kid I mentioned in the other thread from Botafogo - Gabriel - looks like someone we could realistically target and could add young blood to our midfield as depth first and eventually maybe a starter, at an affordable price, seeing as this is his first season and isn't really familiar even within Brazil.

Tbh if we pursue Gabriel, why didn't we try to sign Jadson, who is definitely better in the CDM position, and has a cultured range of passing as well as top tackling ability, also a regular starter for Botafogo last term? There's a reason Udinese signed him for 2 million euros this summer when he's only 19.

Nonetheless, I'd still argue that Allan would certainly be a great, if not better purchase than Jadson or Gabriel, and that he should be a top transfer target in the mercato.

Wellington is just an average DM. He won't add much quality to the squad.
