Sorry but he s not! He s even more annoying than candreva most of the time, think same uslessness but less defensive work and more atitude!

He's lazy but the bigger issue is that he doesn't have the pace to exploit his tremendous left leg outside of 5 meters of space. He has the acceleration to separate over a short distance but lacks the ability to maintain that beyond a few meters. Still, he had moments in the match that helped the Suisse - key is to get him the ball in and around the penalty area rather than hoping he can create some space

He s way too stupid for that guy cannot read the game and is a freaking ball hog.
Fact is the guy just never lived up to the hype he s a small team player and baisically did not developp since leaving basel.

I m gonna say it again Shaq and Salah looked about equally good(talented) in their first season at Basel. Look at them now one is about to become world player of the year while the other one just got relegated with stoke.

Salah had pace to go along with his talent though, on top of that improved his finishing last season with Liverpool. Not to mention he played under some good coaches which probably helped him.

Shaqiri never had the pace and never scored a lot of goals yet teams continued playing him as a striker, winger or a forward.

Being a ball hog, failing to read the game & not developing are his fault but its also the fault of all the coaches he has had over his professional career that never tried to raise his game or play him in a position that fits his characteristics.

Personality may have a lot do with it as well, Salah seems like he was willing to improve and learn, maybe Shaqiri went against what coaches tried to help him with if they did indeed attempt to. You never know really.
