I think I understood it perfectly well and Mourinho means something like this (from his interview):

........................J.Cesar...........................
Maicon........Lucio.........Chivu........D.Santon
......................Cambiasso.........................
......J.Zanetti......................T.Motta...........
..........................Hleb..............................
...............Eto....................Milito...............

:star:

There is still a room for Cassano but we must get rid of some players first but anywaz, that should be our basic starting line-up and players like Samuel, Stankovic, Balotelli would just be like our starters once the season begins.

Well ... Pirlo, Bergkamp, Seedorf were Inter-rejects. ;) t.

Yes they were Inter rejects and two of them are overrated and not Inter material.

None of them are over rated. Bergkamp has done great things for Arsenal, Pirlo though crappy recently has shown his quality for both Italy and Milan. And Seedorf is probably the most complete midfielder in the last 2 decades.

I would bring in Samuel in Chivu's place.

Play J.Z at LB and Muntari in midfield, I think thats our best starting lineup. Till Balo doesnt actually become better than Milito.

Finally other people believe that 442 diamond is our ideal lineup!

Even if Santon is quality, I doubt he can be a starter all season long, so sharing the spot with JZ is more appropriate, since the captain has limited use in the center. Samuel is ahead of Chivu imo, and I recommend using Chivu as a midfielder, ahead of Muntari and Stankovic competing with Motta for the other spot(unless we bring Hamsik or something)

Two goal scoring strikers need 442 to be most effective, with 433 they are both wasted, one at wings, and one at having less space to moveon and off the ball

I really hope Mourinho has spotted this

Can Hleb carry this midfield? NO. IMO he would do decently in a 3 man midfield with Cassano, Eto'o, Milito upfront.

---Cuchu--Motta---
--------Hleb-------

This way he wouldn't have the entire responsibility of carrying our offensive game and he would do well. In your lineup, there is too much burden on him to carry the team which he cannot do.

But he is too attacking oriented to be in a 3 man midfield. All those who have watched him a lot, how good can he be defensively?

I know he runs a lot, and is type of a warrior.

And didn't we already complained we have to many modfielders who are good deffensively ? We need more ballance and Hleb is a good start.

With that formation, the n10 is mostly about opening spaces up(with movement) rather than carrying the team.(according to my lineup) Him and Motta/Stankovic will move offensively with Muntari and Cuchu covering the back, and much burden will be upon the full backs to slice the defence up. Along with good movement from the strikers(both can do it very well), it can prove very handy. Though we could have much more success with long range shooters. Deki can score(or get it on target) one in 6-7 attempts, but he rarely shoots under Mourinho as I've noticed

Anyhow, we need a fast moving n10 with good skill on the ball. Hleb can do it, but it would be much better if he could attempt shots from long way(and scored a couple)

Sadly, I have read that he doesn't score much and ain't good in that ?? I have even read in the other forums (since a year back, during the ice cream scandal) that he doesn't even shoot from distance when he is in good positions and instead tries to pass. Anywaz, I am still happy we have at least got him.;)

Hleb rarely scores. One worry is that Cassano doesn't fit Mourinho's idea of a trequartista/no 10. But we could easily compensate that with Cambiasso and Muntari in midfield with Zanetti on either full-back spot.

We'll see what happens, I think Inter is correct trying to offload players before buying any new ones.

I have never seen him coming back regularly to defend. On occasions. He's not one of those who likes to backtrack.

----------------Julio Cesar------------------

Maicon------Lucio------Samuel-------Santon

-------Muntari--Cambiasso--Motta---------

-------Cassano----Milito----Eto'o---------

Capitano is great, but he's 36...

(assuming we will only get Cassano after Ibra's departure)

Seedorf and Pirlo are overrated? You're telling me you wouldn't trade any 2 of our midfielders for them 2? Pirlo is an orchestrated playmaker, we would have actually been a strong team in Europe with someone like him.

No i wouldnt and i repeat what i said, both are crap, not just overrated. Just because they played some good games doesnt mean they are great players, and fact is both sucked huge balls at inter so it doesnt matter if they would have played well in another team or not.

Maicon, Zanetti
Given the players we have I think our optimal line up would be:

Maicon-L6/WS-IC/CC-Santon/Zanetti

Motta----Cambiasso---Muntari

SMB/Quaresma--E2/DM---Hleb/Mancini

If we play 442 we can not play Cambiasso and Zanetti in midfield if we want to win something next year. I don't think Mourinho will do it either. There's just now way we will be good enough offensivly.
