La Grande d'Oro Inter

Our recent success under Mancini and Mourinho has been very refreshing, but to really take us to the next level, by which I means equalling or hopefully even bettering the 1960s Legends of "La Grande Inter", we need to make some careful acquisitions.

For a start we should certainly not buy any players older than 27, such as any stupid £30 million bid for Lampard etc. In his case he is 31 and has perhaps 2-3 more seasons in him, if that. If on the other-hand we focus on young talent, such as Aguero [£40 million], Di Maria [£30 million] or Silva [£25 million], we can get a good 5-7 seasons out of them AND then sell them if needed when THEY are 31, which means we would make some of our money back and have had the best years from their career. Basically we need repeats of the Ibra situation, get players in who bring us success and then sell them on to break even or make a profit. This equals a successful football team with a balanced, sustainable, economic plan for the long term good health of the club.

If we are to continue with the 4-2-1-3 formation, then this is what I suggest:

DR: Maicon, Santon [his stated preferred position]
DL: Chivu, Kolarov
DC: Cordoba, Samuel, Lucio, Zapata [Cordoba rates him], also co-ownership deals with Ranocchia and Bonucci [let their talents & partnership develop, then bring them in 2 seasons when Samuel, Lucio and Cordoba move on?]
DMC: Cambiasso, Zanetti, Veloso, Motta
AMR: Di Maria, Stankovic
AML: Pandev, Vargas

It won't come cheap, but then success is never a walk in the park. Our spending also has to be relevant to the whole European scene, not just Italia. However any spending should be wise spending, with an eye to the future, as players always take time to adapt - which you don't get with old players [who you also can't make any money from and who expect high starting wages].

Well, unlike you, I have watched Mariga for years. He started his career as an attacking midfielder, in fact he is still the Attacking midfielder for his national team - Kenya. At Helsingborg (i think) he was their attacking midfielder. At Parma, he was more of a box to box...Mariga has never played as a DM.
