having Cambiasso and Mascherano will allow Benitez to play Balotelli more, as Cambiasso and Mascherano will be an awesome rock soild defence in midfield so that means rafa won't have to worry too much if Balotelli decides to drop his defensive workrate, it might even be useful to have someone not so defensive minded. I can see Balotellis position kinda being a bit like how rafa used Gerrard (at least in the offensive way)

I think one of Aquilani's best features is his long balls (not testicles), a little bit like Sneijder. Also, he is a much greater passer than say Motta. This formation, with two relatively defensive minded midfielders, makes it possible for Maicon and Kolarov to go out on their raids with little worry.
