let's hope Milan gets to play in Europa League, but can't get any money from it except ticket sales

The time has come were we need to increase our advantage over Roma and Milan, as well as close the gap to Napoli and Juventus.
Milan and especially Roma will have difficulties to reinforce their squads with out CL. Rube definitely isn’t as good as they used to be and will need a major rebuild sooner or later, while Napoli will probably will neither be better nor worse than they usually are, meaning they will maintain their 2nd place level.
We need some proper and smart investment this summer to further improve and challenge for titles in the near future.

Why is everyone happy Atalanta made it to CL ahead of Milan? I rather see Milan play in the CL as they have the prestige to add profile for Serie A and it will be fun to see Milan fans dreams crushed when they see their team get their asses served by more elite clubs.

Atalanta getting spanked in the groups is only sad and pathetic for Italian football. They couldn't get past Copehegen in EL qualifers FFS.

Admittedly, I have some malicious joy about Milan failing once again, but if I am being as objectively as I can I have to say: Milan don't deserve shit. They spent around 300 mil in the last 2 years and didn't get by punished by the UEFA at all, while we were crippled by those sanctions for years with that fucking settlement agreement. Them not being able to reach a 4th place finish over the past two seasons I entirely their own fault.

Yeah. I wish Uefa fucks Milan now, they deserve to get a nice transfer ban this season.

right. they deserve severe restrictions, much more than us. they were nearly excluded from europa league for their violations and didn't give a shit.

exclusion from europa league is not the punishment i wish, uefa would almost do them a favour.

they must make up for spending 400 million in 2 years, while the others basically couldn't spend more than what they were earning.

a take on fiorentina-genoa from ramon, the commentator of the match for spanish media movistar (google translated):

https://translate.google.com/transl...-fa-giro-mondo-vergognoso-3301975643281.shtml

he said that it was the worst match he ever had to make a commentary of, it was shameful. among other things, he found it was a shame that genoa only relied on Inter.

I agree Milan deserve nothing but shit but not seeing them or Roma in the CL next season feels weird. I'm not sure how Atalanta going to the CL will raise profile for Serie A. It's going to be a bloodbath when they get drawn with Real Madrid, City, Barca or Bayern. The equivilent will be like Lazio but at least they have a huge fanbase and history.

Let's not forget they are playing at Mapei which is a shit stadium on its own.

I guess he did not have to comment that sweden danmar game in the 04 euros that saw italy eliminated!
I know it ended 2:2 but i still believe that they both wanted the game to end that way.

both were shameful matches. but ramon is neither swedish nor danish, so he doesn't have to care about that.

he match between the two nordic teams was way worse by the way, they went for the result which 100% qualified both.

I'm not completely surprised to hear that. Games where there's a mutually beneficial result (even if it is something of a gamble in Genoa's case here) will often get games reflective of that. 1982 West Germany/Austria, the Anschluss game...I've used Anschluss as a verb once or twice before and that's exactly why. It can make for some extremely shitty football, and that's unfortunate, but I also don't think you can blame anyone. There may be some honor in being relegated guns blazing, but you'll quickly sacrifice that honor if the alternative is staying in Serie A.

I know thats why i brought it up and all day i was like nah they cannot possibly agree on a 2:2 before the match started. Then i ended up dumbfounded while watching Italy bulgaria and getting the info that the other game was at 2:2.

Good ol days when my hate for jube did not prevent me for cheering the italien NT.

I want to state, now when all is over, that Rube are the most dishonourable, despicable cunts.

Please someone tell me when, and in what circumstances, would they 1) Draw against Torino at home, club which is their whipping boy since I know about both clubs 2) Lose against Roma away 2-0 without putting an effort whatsoever, and 3) draw against Atalanta at home, when they didn't do anything but winning against them at home in the last 10 years, and maybe more that I can't recall.

What a bunch of cunts. I bet that they would've played even slightly more seriously, at least for their fans, if in these three games they didn't see a chance to screw Inter and Milan.

just for fun, prandelli basically made the substitutions based on what was happening in san siro.

76', traoré equalise for empoli --> 80' sanabria, a forward, subbed in for pereira, a midfielder.

81', nainggolan score ---> 84' pandev out, Günter (a defender) in.

I read on their forum about them supposedly proposing exactly such thing, voluntarily being excluded from EL in order to focus on rebuilding the squad without risking injuries and fatigue like this season.

Can't imagine the calibre of player they'll be attracting this season with EL as their best case scenario.

UEFA needs to take a deep look at the Europa League and trying to fix it if there are teams out there that actively would rather not play in it. And I don't think anyone would blame Milan for being happy for being excluded either; it's a useless competition that they know they aren't gonna win, and in the meantime it's going to put them in a box on at least six occasions in the first half of the season with Thursday -> Sunday games. We would rather miss Europe altogether than play in the Europa League as well.

Clean up your competitions, UEFA. This isn't a good thing to have be the case.
