Well also when it comes down to which midfielder(s) we get, i think the most important question is what formation are we going to play. If we play 4231 a gerrard will be usles since well be playing with only 3 mids and snejder and cuchu are sure starters in my book(no matter whos the coach), so if we go with that formation we ll need a midfielder who s also very good at defending and tracking back since cuchu can t handle it all on his own. I would really like Yaya if we keep playing the 4231 since he can defend and win balls back but he s also confortable with the ball on his foot and he s a good passer imo. Other players i could see work with that formation are: Lucho, Inler, Lass, Hamsik, Veloso. Even thought i m not sure if Veloso s and Hamsik s defensive game are up to the task.

If we do switch to a 4-1-2-1-2 then we could get a player with less defensive abilities if we partner cuchu with Deki/JZ/Motta to do the defensive work and let the new player and snejder carry the offense. In this case my favorite player to get would be Modric but even a Gerrard would fit into this Formation.
Personally i prefer the 4231 since it has worked quite well in those last games.
But a lot depends also on who is going to be our coach next season.

We could get Gerard, every coach in the world would love him and connection between him and Capello could be helpful.

Lass, Mascherano... why we talking about this players?

Cambiasso is better, smarter and more complete from those two. Don't get me wrong, Cambiasso isn't perfect but for that DM role he's very good. Also, Cambiasso will have very long playing career and he will be better with years. He doesn't use pace, strength or physique in his game. He uses intelligence, reading abilities, positioning and that can be only better with years.

Motta and Stan are perfect back-ups for that position, Mariga too. So Lass&Masch fukc off.

And fact is that we are winners of copa, serie A and we're in CL final, for that result team must have very good players in every position. So my opinion is that we must buy only high-profil player who can make direct impact.

Yaya of Barca is better than any other option out there and we can prob get him realitively cheap in comparison to the other guys being thrown around...

Stank is good but at 31 its more keeping him to have him retire at Inter.... there are so many better players out there that are younger.

Right now we want Zanetti, Matrix, Cordoba, Samuel, Stank to retire with us.... thats alot of wages to pay for players who will not get that much playing time when better younger options are avaiable other than Zanetti

Yep, it's a fait accompli really.

Feel for Keita as he is sure to be supplanted in the XI now but this was always inevitable that he would return this summer

Do you think Keita was given a fair chance at Barcelona? He was highly rated earlier in his career, the next best playmaker according to many.

Fair chance?...He's probably one of Pep's favorite players...He hasn't been dealt a bad hand, yet.

He was always going to move to the bench, though...He's starting now mostly because Iniesta has been injured and Pep's dilemma of Busquets & Yaya...And with JDS & Thiago getting some first team opportunities this summer, Seydou's move to the bench was imminent.

Cesc coming would simply hasten it with little discussion

I know he's highly rated by some of you on this board, and I think it's finally time we take a serious look at Yoann Gourcuff. After missing out on CL football with Bordeaux and Blanc leaving the club, French media is rife with speculation he will seek an exit.

Yaya or Yoann, we need some one who has potential to be world class....

So it seems like all of the microscopic hopes Interisti had of possibly landing Fabregas can definitively be put to rest with all that is happening with im and Barcelona...I'm a bit sad...I knew he would end up at Barcelona at some point but I was hoping he'd like to have an adventure in Italy...but you never know...might want to at some point...

Now I don't follow Barcelona very deeply, but with Cesc's supposed arrival I can see some friction developing between the midfielders...seems like there are a lot of midfielders (talented as well) for only 3 spots, which is likely will be dominated by Xavi/Iniesta/pssoibly Fabregas for a few more years...

If any become disillusioned with life there I'd say we should try to land one...I honestly wouldn't mind Yaya or Keita...but hey it's just fantasy talk :)

I have a question regarding Barcelona, I know last year they wanted Mascherano...do they want him again this year? If he'd come with Fabregas, how would the midfield look? Like I said, seems like an awful lot of midfielders for only 3 positions...

Very good point, with Blanc's departure, I'd imagine Gourcuff to be more likely to leave... Chamakh's apparent departure to Arsenal and the WC passing could further sway him to leave as well. I agree, this summer would be our best chance of landing him. Now on how truly effective he would be for our squad is a whole different matter considering his abilities compared to Sneijder and Coutinho's purpose...still, he'd be a quality signing. For me though, he'd be more of an impulsive buy...a very good player but ultimately not really what we need that much...

I'm a bit disappointed to the lack of rumors for our midfield...seems they really died down after the Veloso ones surfaced, but I'm sure they will come up more once the manager issue is sorted out and the WC passes (though I think we should make our acquisitions before the WC...)

The Yaya saga is the one transfer possibility that has had me in knots for a couple of seasons now, tbh.

Mascherano used to be the DM that many coveted but I prefer Yaya far more than I do the Argentine...The rumours continue to persist in the pursuit of Mascherano but I can't understand it let alone believe if it's entirely true.

Yaya's situation isn't directly related as I believe the friction there has more to do with 2 issues...One, Kolo, Yaya's brother in the Premiership...The player has said many times he has thought of a move to the EPL...The other involves what I have deemed Pep's 'Catalan Preference' for La Masia players over foreign players...Namely, Busquets...I like the player, apart from his BS that he still tries to pull but he isn't fit to wear Yaya's jock, IMHO...For me, it has long been Yaya >>>> Biscuit.

Knowing the way the club and the local media work, you can tell who is in the good graces and who is being shown the door...For me, the writing is on the wall that Yaya will be moved...Personally, I think it will be a massive mistake

Hey FCBarca bit off topic but what do you think of the Villa deal?? It's pretty much done. Personally I'm just glad we played you guys this season and not next. Villa at Barca is going to be a nightmare for la liga teams, and I honestly don't see Madrid catching you guys next season (especially with Cesc as well) Mou coaching them or not.

Well, as you may or may not recall, Villa was actually pursued in advance of the Ibra negotiations with Inter...When Villa begged & pleaded for Valencia to sell him, ultimately they rebuffed all of Barca's advances...Ibra became the alternative...Now, it seems, Barca have returned to the first option.

It'll be a seamless transition for Villa, I am sure...Xavi & Iniesta have been pulling the strings for Spain's midfield and feeding balls to Villa for some time now...I don't expect things to change for him at Barca...He's perfect for what Barca does, no doubt...He was always the first choice to replace Samu

if we can't get fabregas we should offer burdisso and lots of money to roma for De Rossi. i know a lot of our fans don't like him, but he'd add a lot of quality to our midfield!

De rossi will never join inter. He is not welcome, said way too many things against inter. Also he is not comparable to cesc, he is a defensive midfielder.

i'm sure a lot of inter fans could forgive him for some of his past comments. He is a defensive midfielder but is better than anyone we have in that role, plus we all know already motta will miss a lot of next season through injury and stankovic isn't getting any younger, zanetti is a full back, only cambiasso is reliable in that DM position

He is not better than cambiasso so no he is not better than anyone we have. He is not welcome and the same applies to his two bed buddies mexes and totti.
