First they should sell the players that Mancini doesn't want, then buy fullbacks. For too many years we kept a million of fullbacks in the squad.

We can get rid of Vidic and two fullbacks in the winter transfer window to fund a new starting fullback. That is what SHOULD happen.

We know how good Santon can get, he's good, but he's never exceptional. I think Mancini is searching for his new Maicon/Zabaleta. Montoya disappointed him, it seems.

Maybe it's a 'sentimental' thing but I don't really dislike Santon, despite the number of errors he's committed playing in this team. As 'average' as he tends to be, I've never gotten to the point of wanting to break my computer watching him play like I have with Nagatomo and Jonathan at times. As I mentioned, I couldn't care less about Montoya. Ship him back to Barca, keep him on the bench, fucken whatever. Probably best for everyone involved if he goes back though.

Well there's a difference between bringing in a flop from Barcelona and bringing in someone who is a product of our system. He's not just a screw up, he's our screw up.

Never rated Montoya. He is at Donati's level IMO.

I think Montoya was an "impulse purchase" since there is no loan fee, its just his wage cost and no long term commitment. Maybe Inter should have waited and spent more money for a proper FB. A small punt on a long shot, no real harm done.

There is no serious financial harm done, true, but it's emblematic of a very harmful lack of patience or vision. It's also classless from Mancini and Ausilio though it's not like we aren't used to it as fans after some of the things this club has done over the past few years.

I was begging us to sign Jordan Amavi from Nice, predictably he's bossing the Premier League with Aston Villa.

For RB I like Djibril Sidibe from Lille, of course no way we'll go for him, let's see what other useless player we get.

Classless because we gave guy who is riding the bench and was not getting a single chance at barca a chance here at inter? A lot of barca fans thought he was great, just needed a change of scenery, and I'm sure one or two of our scouts picked up on something. Unfortunately right now he looks like shit, but who knows maybe that'll change in the future.

Yeah but Thohir owns DC United so potentially we could skirt some FFP rules by getting a transfer fee for him.

Anything we can make on him is a gain because we got him on a free, and Thohir could technically decide what the fee is.

Surely there's rules against that.

DC United fans don't even want him,

Now, word from BN Television in Serbia is saying that Inter Milan defender Nemanja Vidic is not only coming to Washington to play for D.C. United next summer, but might already be in talks with the team.

There are a myriad of reasons why this would be a bad idea: First, Vidic has not played since having surgery last month on a slipped disc, and may take three more months to recover. Second, the report makes mention of him coming over to play next summer, which would put him a couple months shy of his 35th birthday, and I'll presume any deal to bring Vidic over to MLS would be of the multiyear variety. Third, center back would seem to be one of the few positions where D.C. United could boast a surplus, with Bobby Boswell, Steve Birnbaum, Kofi Opare and Markus Halsti spending minutes there this season, to say nothing of those who have played in the US Open Cup or CONCACAF Champions League competitions. And fourth, did I mention he'd be almost 35 next summer? Bobby Boswell, currently the team's oldest center back, would give 18 months in age to Vidic, who, in case I didn't mention it, would be coming back from back surgery.

But hey, it's not like Erick Thohir has foisted a strange personnel move onto Dave Kasper and Ben Olsen before, right?
