Havertz is not reachable, there is Bayern, Barcelona, Real and all the english giants after him. His price is also too high in my opinion. He suits also to teams who likes tiki-taka style of play, many short passes and possesion, so no-Conte player :D

Pedro? Oh, good god no. He is poor as a winger and will be even worse as a 2nd striker. He will be a waste of wages.

I think that rumor was more about his agent shopping his client around Europe.

Plus he's got a cunty Barcelona face. That should put the issue to bed.

Yes but SportMediaset picked up the rumor saying we could bring him insead of Mertens. I think Marotta could use the rumor to force Man Utd`s hands regarding Sanchez - 1 year extension of the loan. Already fooled Woodward 3 times, why not go for 4th?

What are the three times you're referencing here, because I can't think of one.

I think Sanchez on loan with a favourable terms is one, but can't think of anything else.

Happy to share the list
1. Lukaku was bought by Man Utd in 2017 for €84.7m. Marotta got him in 2019 (more XP and best years to come) for €65m + €10m potential add-ons + unknown percentage on future sale of Lukaku [market value was €75m]
2. Young - payed €1.5m while his market value was €4m
3. Sánchez - FREE loan with Inter only paying only €5m of his €12m salary  [market value €35m]

Once again, Lukaku was bought for 80m. That was the original asking price and it took us 2+ months to give in to Man Utd's demands. The deal is 65 + 10 and then there's 5m bonuses that are still not public information. So even if you assume that that means Ballon D'Or and Champions League trophy, it's a 75m deal.

Ashley Young had no real value as his contract was expiring and he was like 33. There was no club willing to pay anything for him.

Alexis Sanchez was supposed to have a golden handshake with Man United in June and join us but we told him we weren't prioritizing on him so he didn't pursue it as he didn't want to risk losing several millions without the guarantee that he'd move to the team he wanted to. Instead, we lost valuable time and got ourselves a decent deal, but not as good as the original plan.

I repeat only Sanchez deal can be considered fooling Woodward (since he pays bigger slice of the salary than Inter do). Can't possibly say Lukaku or Young deals were particularly great.

LOL. I guess its possible to spin this any which way, but lets not do that.

The way I see it, Inter ended up overpaying for Lukaku (65+10 was a bit too much IMO). However I can understand the reason for this, fucking Juve created a bidding war. I still look at the Lukaku deal as a success:
1. Lukaku was important for our coach, and he has proven why
2. We beat Juve to it

If we want to become a top club, we got to win such "big mercato duels". So paying a few million more is understandable. We can criticise the Lukaku deal (overpaying) or the Eriksen deal (over haggling) as much as we want, but the important thing is that Marotta has been winning these big mercato deals. That is one of the reasons why he is regarded as one of the best Directors in the planet. He has his faults, I listed them when he joined, but he is one of the best in business despite these faults.

The Young or the Sanchez deals were good deals, but they don't define the market. The Lukaku & Eriksen deals make an important statement about our ambition.

We did not beat Juventus to Lukaku. He literally accepted their offer and was about to sign, but the deal collapsed because Juventus didn't offer money but a counterpart in Dybala. Who rejected Manchester United.

We gave up on Lukaku and for like almost a week when we tried to go for Cavani but PSG was demanding 50m. We said no. That's also when the window to loan Icardi to PSG arrived. PSG never offered a Cavani + $$$ for Icardi deal, but that would have been a possibility in the unlikely event that Dybala had said yes to Manchester United.

So they genuinely did beat us to Lukaku but their deal collapsed. And how did we respond? We went to Manchester United, right after the last suitor for Lukaku had given up, and gave them exactly what they were asking for from the beginning. It was pathetic negotiating, if you can call it that. Complete waste of time.

Ashley Young was not a "good" deal. It was just a deal, a quick fix. The only one who can claim it was a good deal is Ashley Young himself who at best would have extended at Manchester and at worse he'd end up on the rotation of some low level PL club. Don't forget that he had 5 months left in his contract and he is 34 years old, soon to be 35.

Bluenine why are you upset? it's not you were there, I remember that summer, Bhreme had coffee with Dybala and after that lunch with Lukaku. Marotta called them on faceTime and told them job with Inter will be done since Dybala doesn't like weather in England.

Long story short, Juve beat us for Lukaku but we got him.

Interested in Icardi deal?

It was like brehme explained. Deal of Lukaku to Juve was done, but it didn't go through because Dybala didn't accept United's contract terms. It would have been a swap but 1 out of 4 parties (United, Juve, Lukaku, Dybala) didn't agree.

It's not reasonable to twist the events to anyone's favour to support any agenda. We got Lukaku, we are happy he's scoring goals but it wasn't even close to "fooling Woodward" like suggested.

How was it done if one of the parties didn't agree? It's considered done only when all the parties are in agreement. I agree we didn't fool Woodward about Lukaku. In the end we paid more or less what he initially wanted. The only thing we managed to negotiate was the payment structure.
