I honestly don't see many options for Messi if he leaves Barcelona. We should be on the top of the list.

Juventus is out of the question since Cristiano is there and they can barely afford that. But I see that they may make this appealing to both. Even so, completely unrealistc.
I don't see him moving to a PL club, even if Guardiola is there. Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham can throw money at him, but he doesn't really need it and I cannot see him moving there. City may not even be in the Champions League and Guardola probably leaves them.
Bayern is an awkward move for him.
Real Madrid is out of the question.

Inter and in the rare case that Milan advances to a Champions League spot would be the safest bets for Messi's alternative club in case he leaves Barcelona, unless he wants to go to Newell's and finish his career there, but he doesn't strike me as the type. Teams like Napoli and Roma cannot even dream about this.

We need to establish ourselves in the pole position whether this is possible or not. If we seem able to entertain the notion that Messi may come here, anyone could come. Odds of Messi leaving Barcelona are extremely low, but since there's a crack in the window, we might as well pounce.

He won't leave. Just drama.

But if he does, Juve would surely be a top contender. They would do anything to have him and Ronaldo playing together for a season.

Wether Messi leaves or not, these rumours fuel newspapers. Which means sponsors are getting more exposure/advertisement.

Real Ronaldo
Would be a dream move. This would really put Serie A on the Map ..
but Juve ( CR7) vs Inter ( M10) would be insane !!
Crowning this off with a Serie A title for us would be Amazing !!

i think when this thing gains ground over the next few months
we have to be a big player in this scenario.

But Id take it if we can get him on a free transfer and adjustment to his salary.

Griezman is number 1 for me , that way we box clever and we box smart

Everything would be simpler for them imo if they were able to treat this as an on-field/tactical/football issue. But apparently any change would probably get someone to implode. I mean, their squad is quite spectacular (they beat us with a 2nd team) and yet they still seem like a sinking ship.

If the article is correct in detecting the roots of Messi's unease then I think we'll hardly entice him to join. We can't beat Rube yet and by extension we are not CL winners material atm.

Whether it was smart for Rube to go for CR7 or not, they were ready to to seize the opportunity. Stadium, Pogba deal, titles, CL final...

I guess Mandzukic is fine as a stop gap cheap solution for vice-Lukaku. He'd have no bad mood for not playing that much, but would be ready to play eagerly when asked to.

Giroud costs money and he'd want to play more than what we probably could offer him. Plus his salary is probably way higher than Mandzukic's. At least I think that we are after him (Mandzu) if he accepts a considerably lower salary.

GdS: Mario Mandzukic, serious candidate to become vice-Lukaku

Inter have been looking for a vice-Lukaku since last summer. And now, there is a serious candidate to fill this role, one that Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta knows very well: Mario Mandzukic. The striker has just been released by Al Duhail and returning to Serie A is more than just an option for him. And Inter are among the suitors.

The relationship between Marotta and Mandzukic is known history. That plus the fact that he is a free agent makes him a very attractive target. Let’s recall that Conte does not have a vice-Lukaku this season: it was one of the coach’s demands which was not fulfilled.

It is clear that Esposito will not play the role of fourth striker and so another is needed. Mandzukic, 34 years old, falls in line the type of player that Inter are looking for (Dzeko, Giroud for examples).

Mandzukic signing has several advantages - would come for free, could be registered any time to play (even this season, correct me if I`m wrong!), especially thinking of the Europa League if you want to give that trophy a proper shot, Marottan and Conte know him well, always gives his best and fights until the last minute, which is unfortunately not something you can tell of all Inter players. My priority would be getting Cavani regardless of Lautaro saga, but in case not possible, I would accept Mandzukic than to spend transfer fee on the likes of Giroud/Dzeko.

Question is: how long of a contract he would be willing to sign as a minimum? Salary: the latest @ juBentus was around 5.5M Euro per season.

No new player can play this season. Though I'm not 100% on not being able to register new players to EL.

Obviously I wouldn't give him 5.5m€, maybe half of that. Actually Giroud makes apparently 3.5-4.x m€ net at Chelsea and he'd be available for Growth Decree tax reduction, unlike Mandzukic (who's paid Italian taxes within last 2 years). Anyway, Mandzu would fit to the role better in terms of minutes and probably the requested contract length but let's see. Some kind of option for a second year could be possible, but wouldn't give him that automatically.

Conte's masterplan: We'll bring Mandzukic as a vice-Lukaku, and become a starter after a while.

Im all in for Mandzukic. Very underrated player. Hard worker, technically decent, versatile, can be great backup. Shame he is getting old, but I think we can get couple of seasons from him.

It feels like time has stopped in 2017/18 season for Conte. Since that season he keeps asking for the same players.

I agree. Even though I hate him he would be a good option. The only question mark with Mandzukic is he basically stayed out of the game in the last season.

That could just lower the salary he has to accept.
