IF somehow Inter land Messi, his only viable position is the support striker in 3-5-1-1 or 3-4-2-1. The latter will only happen if Eriksen manages to replicate his Tottenham work rate else we would be heavily overrun.
Furthermore, Lukaku must be more clinical in finding space in opponent's defence for Messi gradually shifts to passing. I will not doubt the lethality of Lukaku-to-Messi route, but Messi's effectiveness will be reduced if we cannot utilise his intelligent pass. Sadly, we do not have many players who able to make crafty movement.

Can you imagine Messi doing one-twos with Gagliardini & Candreva ?

Don’t disrespect candrevinho like that. Messi is salivating at the prospect of laying the perfect pass to candreva, then watching as the ball heads out of the stadium and into orbit.

Just swap Messi with Lautaro. They get a striker to lead the new generation and we get Messi to partner up with Lukaku and help us win now.

Imagine what the exposure effect alone would be for a Messi signing? We would gain millions of fans worldwide, help with new TV/Media/Sponsorship deals, shirt sales, etc.

Could also do wonders for Messi’s legacy to help topple Juve and CR7.

Think big picture here guys, not just the on-field difference.

Or...we wait until next summer and his contract goes out and we keep Lautaro as well.

I’d probably avoid this forum more if Messi does come here. The avalanche of fan boys coming to talk shit would be enough to make me smash my keyboard.

There are players that I'd rather get than Messi, because they are younger and also because we need that type of player - for example: Dybala.

If we have to get Messi, I'd rather get Messi for free, but I'd explain to him beforehand that he would be our 3rd striker at best, not somebody who starts most of the games. Lautaro and Lukaku must continue to build their chemistry. I don't want Messi to steal time from Laukaku forming to completion.

Sorry but if you pay a player 50m€, that player will be a starting player no matter who's the coach.

Messi is obviously awesome, but I'd rather we spend the cash on some other world class player who is more future proof and someone whose wages we won't be desperate to get rid of in two or three years.

Not sure about benching Messi so that Lukaku can flourish tho

All of them
to people who are debating whether we should land messi or not, there are other aspects that we should grow in not only to build a young promising team. we have to bring back the inter shirt to the shelves again and grow our market in that regard. here is one example, I remember always checking the number of followers (~1.6 mil ) we have on instagram against likes of juve ( 4.3 mil before they signed ronaldo) and milan, we were slowly catching up but then they signed ronaldo and boom 40 fuckin million followers in 2 years!! pleas don't give me instagram followers don't matter bullshit look at the bigger picture.

Then don't buy that player. Just looks like a hindrance for us. Dybala or Thiago Alcantara are more needed than Messi. Spending all that money on De Bruyne would make more sense.

We have to look at the future, not just the two seasons a football superstar would be getting his last big paycheck.

Thiago wouldn't have a starting spot in our current setup. His asking price is too low for the market situation and it's a shame we're not going for him.

Dybala ain't coming here, so forget about it. He's probably saving himself for Real or Barcelona. Barcelona is only an option if we get Messi off of them :) PSG is the only other team I see for him but they need to sell Neymar or Mbappe for that.

Not only that but if Messi comes at Inter, his rivalry with Ronaldo will be resumed once again. Messi Inter against Ronaldo Jubentus. This will trigger huge media interest to serie A and particulary Inter and Jubentus.

Yeah, Dybala already refused us once (last summer). De Bryune, he's not switching City to Inter.

This Messi thing is totally circumstantial. Barcelona's poor management and Messi's frustration towards that, add Suning's capabilities to make it possible and hunger for getting Inter back to top.

You sure? I believed it was more like Inter tried to haggle too much with Palermo and Juventus came in and sealed the deal.

That's what Ausilio had said on Dybala:

"A meeting was organised between the two presidents, Zamparini can confirm it, and I am convinced that if Inter on that occasion at the home of the president of Palermo had more desire and determination to spend more probably Dybala would be an Inter player.

"The offer was honestly much lower than what Juventus did. The pair of (Mauro) Icardi-Dybala was intriguing to all."

Ah, I recall the situation was that the player showed little interest to our offer and Juventus upped their bid and we decided it wasn't worth to pursue a player that didn't want to join us.

Our midfield currently boasts Gagliardini proudly every game. Something tells me Thiago would have a good shot at starting here.
