Roma is actually also going through a rebuilding phase, and they had players who were younger than ours. Just a little perspective
Which is why I simply do not buy the "we are a new team" BS. Every team is a new team. Juve were a new team last year. Roma is new. Fiorentina is CRAZY new with a new coach and a new first team. Atletico were a new team under Simeone last year. As was Bilbao.
The key though is, though these teams are new, imo, the identity is clear. How they WANT TO PLAY is clear. Or more specifically, how they want to defend and attack is clear. They do not have 100% synchronization yet, but it is clear what they are trying to do.
With strama, it is not clear whatsoever. The only thing that is clear is that he likes possession football. Can anybody tell me how strama wants us to defend? High line? Zone? Low press? High press? WE DON'T KNOW. Can anybody tell me how strama wants to attack? Direct? Wing play? Overlap? Quick combinations? Overload + switch? WE DON'T KNOW.
This is not a surprise to me at all though. Football is not a mystery or rocket science. You execute what you train and like I said earlier in this thread, based on my limited viewings of training done this pre-season, I was APPALLED at the content of our training and that is indicative of what we've been doing.
So while some are assuming strama is going to "develop" and whatever other vague terminology that you want to use, I will be looking at our training sessions. If it's the same garbage as pre-season, then I know what's coming for us.
We have some good players on the team, so even with mediocre training content, they can excel and still win games. But in the tight/tough games, I won't be hoping for miracles.
