He's not comfortable defending so far up or so much wide to the box. He's not going to get used to this system.

If you want him to not be overshadowed by a couple of hiccups, then give him a defensive beast as right wing back and a defensive midfielder right in front of him. Otherwise he'll be exposed and eventually make a mistake. And mistakes in his spot cost more than anywhere else.

He was great until that lapse in judgement. It only cost us because radja's crap shot grew angel wings along the way and deflected off bastoni.

I’d get rid of his wages and sign a much younger defender at least the mistakes would be justified and the salary isn’t burden and can actually be very useful.

I wouldn't sell him in January. It's pointless and paints a bad image on us.
And there's no one to buy him really.

We should have just cancelled the deal with him after we got Conte. I'm pretty sure he'd accept that since he wouldn't agree to join us to play in a defensive trio. It's one thing to change clubs and be part of a great rotation where you bring your experience and it's another thing to be forced to play a very demanding role at this age and throw whatever experience you have down the drain as it serves for almost nothing in this role.

With his wages it's going to be hard to send him to a place where he'd want to go (ie China or Arab countries), like Villarreal or maybe even another Serie A team like Roma or Napoli. I'm pretty sure Roma would love to have him.

So we're probably sending him on a loan we'll be paying for, a la Radja, if it comes to that. We'll see if Conte manages to keep him in the winter but I'm concerned that the move to bring both Young and Moses indicates that D'Ambrosio is going to be considered as a right side center back and Godin will be allowed to leave imminently. We just have to wait and see for roughly another week of course.

Miranda's contract got terminated because when Conte asked about who caused all the trouble last season his name popped up along, but some other names were not marginalized. He wanted to leave anyway so who knows what on earth he was doing in there.

Miranda would have been awful in a three man defence. He'd also be playing on the left side. Remember what he was doing last season? Pretty much hugging that left line and kicking the ball out for a throw in or inwards for an opponent to receive it?

This role is very demanding and unless you're some brute like Barzagli where you just boot the ball whenever it comes your way, you're going to struggle if you don't have the required characteristics.

Godin is doing okay so far. Are people genuinely saying that we conceded because he complained to the ref for a foul (or was the ball out?) whilst Joao Pedro was evading him? He couldn't have stopped him even if he wasn't complaining. Get real guys. Stop expecting that Godin is the next coming of Beckenbauer, we're misusing him as well and he's doing his best. But here I am preaching to the crowd that blames him for that incredible Luis Suarez goal

This is the Internet sport forum at it’s best. I hate said player therefore I will blame him for a goal that was made from a bunch of space allowed by other players on a shot that 9/10 times does not go in from that distance because of a clear deflection and the GK not moving fast enough because of the deflection.

They are asking for Rano or D’Ambrosio over him. That’s how rational they are.

Why would Godin even want to be here after spending all those year at Athletico competing for trophies, other than a massive paycheck?

He's shown time and time again when he advances the ball, that he is better at playing midfield than nearly all of our midfielders. He knows this team won't win shit anytime soon.

Lol ridiculous. Ramos, Boateng, Hummels make worse mistakes. Anyway we had no business sitting so deep with a one goal lead. That's on Conte.

Let’s pretend you’re not trolling. Do you hate Godin because you’re Columbian?

I don’t hate Godin because he scored the goal against Italy to knock them out of the WC.
Did he score a key goal against Columbia or take out Falcao at some point?

Miranda was not 1x better than Godin was when they played at AM together.
They were both great there.

Put Godin at CB here and he is still very good.

Can you explain where did Godin's headers go? Crzd seems to have a point, he is here to retire and collect. I like Godin and I have always wanted him to come but not when his goal is to rest.

If he just wanted to collect and retire he would have gone to the EPL where Man U offered him more money a year ago?
I don’t see his point at all other than to make a point about how he does not like the player.

Why would he come to play a position he has never played and deal with that, on a team that was going to play in the CL. He’s not that kind of player or person. His lack of headers is disappointing and Inter got him past his prime but no point that poster is making shows any objectivity in his criticism.

Kinda hard to head the ball when the cross goes to the opposition 10 times out of 10. We need a set piece coach.
