When? Ronaldniho is free agent... he won how many titles? Let’s give him 50 million a season

Let's not forget the title he won and runner up for Champions League. Godin is a legend for Atletico, just hasn't found his groove yet at us, still thought he was playing okayish. And it does feel good to know we got Godin as a back up

It's not about "finding his groove" when he's making rookie mistakes every game. He's either not suited to a three-man defense or he's declined to shit. I'm more comfortable with Bastoni than I'm with him playing.

Europa league 3 seasons ago. Runners up to everything else.....

You think that is such a huge upgrade from inter?

They are the Napoli of Spain.

Has Napoli won their league in the last 6 years? Juve is tough to beat but try beating Barcelona and RM in the last 10 years. AM have been the only team to do that in a league that does nothing but favor those 2 teams.

Has Napoli made a CL final twice in three years? The Semis 4 times in 6 years? So it’s Godin who sucks because they could not win one of them even though Godin scored the only goal in the 2014 final for AM while winning La Liga as well. He won basically as much as Miranda did. The player who is 5x better than Godin.

I love your trolling. Let the hate flow through you.

Godin problem is easy, when someone become master swordsman, its not easy to change weapon to spear.

He is pure CB at 4 man defense.

Going switch to 3 man defense is suicide.

It's a bit kinda like 3 man attack formation switch to 2 man striker formation.

He won the La Liga, scoring the goal that won it for them in the process. He's also won the Europa League twice, European Super Cup twice, and the Spanish Cups. That's definitely much more than Napoli.

Godin was definitely a world class, arguably one of top 3 defenders in the past decade. He is still decent, but is declining rapidly. I said it even before we got him, Atletico are my second team, i watch them on weekly basis. He was declining prior coming here, he is declining now. Him playing as RCB doesnt help either.

He can still produce some world class performances, but he wont do it on regular basis, and he will only get worse. Solid backup to have tho.

Posters on here keep talking about the past and what he did for Atletico. But really, none of that shit counts. A player is only as good as a his last game and what I saw is a player that gave up and failed to play the whistle which led to us conceding. Amateurs playing football on a Sunday afternoon don’t do that kind of thing so I’m not sure what he was thinking (if he was thinking at all).

If he can’t adapt then he should fuck off. And cunts on here that talk about him like he’s the Second Coming should shut the fuck up.

It’s sink or swim time. If he can’t handle a three man defence and what his coach is asking of him then he should find another club because right now now all I see is an old dog that can’t be taught new tricks.

No the past doesn’t always count but the context in which we were talking about it with him was in response to another poster stating he’s never won much of anything or at all.

Not an excuse for his play now and that’s what we should be looking at. Having a CB who’s not at his prime and you expect him to just deal with it and do it. Reasonable expectation of course. Everyone’s a Cunt if they can’t handle it no doubt.

Nice pass to Sanchez to set up Vecino's goal.

He had a bad first half, but his strong mentality showed in how confidently he played after the break, with even a no-look pass at one point. And the defence splitting ball to Sanchez for Vecino's goal.

Everyone talked that Godin is an old-school defender who will bring defence stability, but what I have seen so far is a comfortable ball playing defender with lapses on defence. He is very good at passing the ball forward and even very daring to step forward leaving the backline.

That being said, he was completely owned by 38 years old ibra for the first goal and that adds up to his mistakes portfolio he has been building up this season. This season he rotates with Bastoni depending on the kind of games being played. For next season, we can expect Bastoni will be matured and Godin will be his backup if he is not leaving.

Sure Godin hasn't been the monster we all expected, but he isn't as bad as some make out. Ibra owned him on the first goal, but then that's the point about a player like Ibra. They would always win some of those duels, that's why they have that reputation. Messi would get past you once or more, no matter how well you're playing. And Ronaldo will latch on to any minor error that you commit.

While Bastoni deserves to start, he has been at fault for most goals we concede with Bastoni on the pitch. Godin and Skriniar just need to score a goal each to regain their confidence.

For a free player, we could've signed someone much-much worse as we've done numerous times. Thing is, a player with Godin's hype and pedigree, should've been the monster we all expected. Yeah, maybe a monster on the decline but he looks like he's not up for this level of the game anymore.

His pass for Sanchez was definition of experience winning mentality putting the team above all.

How he starts over Bastoni in the most important game of the season is baffling to me.

Other than him being shit, starting him this often confuses Skriniar who’s forced change position every 2 games. This guy PASSED it and should never start a game for us till the end of the season. I’d let Bastoni start and make mistakes, at least we’ll benefit from it in the future.

Also, why does he think he is Messi sometimes and attempt to dribble and move forward with the ball?
