Not that great to watch. We didnt really have any good chances, other than long shots, which all went over the stadium. But at least Dimarco then scored a great goal. Also, arnautovic got injured and we played the last 5 minutes with 10 men, hoping not to fuck up on defense.

I am a big fan of Pavard since the first game he played with us, but he really makes a hole in the system, not severe, like he gets out of position from time to time, I am sure the system was more meant to protect the space and let the midfielders track back for example, but since he has this world class individual ability and speed and everything, most of the time, he shuts off the opponent to even get to exploit the space; however, that sometimes creates burdens for the other players.

I think it is just a play style thing, with calculated risks, especially he plays with French national team and Bayern Munich, which the defense style is way less conservative and the defenders are supposed to dominate a bigger space, and more reliance on individual defensive skills.

Nonetheless I love this guy, I actually want more freestyle from him, so I am looking forward to seeing Dumfries and him on the right doing their own thing.

True but it's still early days. It's just his 4th week with the team and his 2nd start, his first coming less than 5 days ago. He'll have an adaption time till new year and then he should be fine.

It's also up to the wing back and the outside midfielder to cover for him. Today he had Darmian so it was okay. But with Dumfries he will get exposed because tactically Dumfries is usually lacking. Frattesi was okay because Empoli wasn't pressing us that hard and didn't have much possession. Against better teams (like Sociedad), everyone around them would suffer if we act the same way.

It's a style thing but not necessarily something he learned with the French team or Bayern. He was similar at Stuttgart. We have to get used to him and he has to get used to us.

Above average display. Empoli were really fighting for their “new” coach so they made it difficult. Beautiful strike by Fede. Fucking effortless looking.

Lautaro looked exhausted and Barella still looks out of sorts. Mhki is our best midfielder right now and Pavard has looked exactly how I thought he would. Just a perfect fit.
