Reina/Valdes

Arbeloa Albiol Domínguez Alba/Monreal

Martinez Alonso

The Football Association can confirm that Fabio Capello has today resigned as England Manager.

This follows a meeting involving FA Chairman David Bernstein, FA General Secretary Alex Horne and Fabio Capello at Wembley Stadium.

The discussions focused on The FA Board’s decision to remove the England team captaincy from John Terry, and Fabio Capello’s response through an Italian broadcast interview.

In a meeting for over an hour, Fabio’s resignation was accepted and he will leave the post of England Manager with immediate effect.

David Bernstein said: “I would like to stress that during today’s meeting and throughout his time as England Manager, Fabio has conducted himself in an extremely professional manner. We have accepted Fabio’s resignation, agreeing this is the right decision. We would like to thank Fabio for his work with the England team and wish him every success in the future.”

A media conference with David Bernstein and the Club England Management team will take place at Wembley on Thursday at 12 noon.

The FA will not be making any further comment until the media conference.

IMO it is bullshit that the FA pulled Terry's captaincy without any (known) consent from Capello. He is the coach, it is his decision to make or take the arm band. I know it would piss me off.

Shouldn't have stripped terry's captaincy till the court case but again it's another beautiful move by the FA. Before every major competition either the English FA or the English media find a way to fuk up their team before they go to compete, completely agree with capello's decision to resign, wonder who the media and FA will blame when england return from the euros empty handed haha its idiotic really

Capello: 'England FA insulted me'
http://www.football-italia.net/node/15510

Though Capello is a great manager but I'm not sure if he's the right man to build a new Inter. He's certainly an upgrade over Ranieri but somehow I feel like we need fresh/new blood as a very-long term project.

I'm not surprised of this, I just wonder where he'll coach next. Will he coach a different NT?

consensus here is that, well not that he is incompetent, but that he is definitely NOT the man for the job. I can imagine the majority of English people will be very relieved with this news. And also that the vast majority of English people will want Harry Redknapp, who IMO is much better suited to the England job.

Dunno how Redknapp would go considering this is national team level, but he can't do any worse than the last 10 surely ?

Last decent manager the 3 lions have had was Bobby Robson imo. But even then he actually had a pretty good squad.

Todays english squad is quite mediocre if you ask me.

I don't see why anyone would leave that Spurs side, so much potential.

Unless Jose makes a return :troll:
