have to say, i was wrong about newcastle. I thought it'd take them longer to make top 4. They're quite lucky this year in the sense that Chelsea and Liverpool were complete fuck ups, but still, kudos

It is surprising. I wouldn't have known it if I didn't check the table recently (I haven't watched EPL in a long time). Their success this season isn't a talking point anywhere I feel, haven't read anything or watched any videos mentioning them.

Time to switch to the Wembley playoff final.

Coventry vs Luton

Used to like Coventry back in the 2000s. Luton haven't been in the top flight since 1992 so they've never actually been part of the big boys table in the Premier League era. They got relegated in 1992 just a few months before the new format.
Nice colors - but not today, yet it's just another London team, even if it's in the outskirts.

Coventry on the other hand has been a traditional team you found at the English top flight from the entirety of the 70s until the mid 2000s. And probably a lot of us here remember several of their players, including Robbie Keane who we've signed from them.

Both are shitholes in terms of towns, nothing special in terms of fan atmosphere or anything. Luton has a weird stadium and is fan owned so I guess people will respect that more. Coventry is owned by a local businessman at least and no fund or some random foreigner that wants to launder money or expose himself in a wider audience.

I had forgotten how bad the level of football was in the 2nd tier of England. But geez, one team is leading and is one step away from top tier football after decades and you can barely hear that any fans are present despite 85-90 thousand of them being there...

All you can hear is some aaa and ooo sounds like in the NFL when one team has the ball and tries to attack.

Luton is as much a London team as Atalanta is a Milan team

i.e. only if you accept Ryanair's ridiculous definitions :D

Bergamo is part of the metropolitan area of Milano actually :D

Yeah I know neither Luton or Southend are actually London, heck neither Gatwick and Stansted aren't London. I'm just saying geographically they're closer to what people perceive as the London region and proper football culture in England is mostly around the Midlands and the North. Prefer teams from there to be honest.

Everton, Leicester and Leeds fighting to avoid relegation.

Does the third team get automatically relegated or there'll be play-offs?

So with the halftime results, Leicester are staying in the league and Everton relegating. Everton need to win vs Bournemouth to be safe.

Tottenham finishing outside European places is golden.

Tottenham being a "big six" club is one of the worst things I've ever seen happen. Fuck that team, fuck their unearned sense of entitlement, and fuck their generic kits. It's not for good reasons, but I hope Newcastle replaces them in that "big six" and we stop having any reason to see Tottenham as anything other than midtable mediocrity.

if we pick up Vardy from Leicester, we will have our asshole against Quadrado and that Peacock from Milan. As washed up as he is, he is still better than Correa. At least he gives a fuck about the game and scores goals sometimes:)
