So first Laporte signs all these players, then he puts public pressure to these players to lower their salaries. Public will turn against these players as they want new players to be registered because they are already there and signing new players is the must thing to do for everyone (I've noticed same tendency in this forum too).

What a total shit housery and despicable club.

Then FCBarca comes next to explain that the contracts were signed during Bartomeu reign and Laporte has no responsibility over those.

Not wrong. Laporta's responsibility is to course correct the club, financially & sporting wise. If it means asking players to take wage cuts and binning others, so be it.

Getting foreign players to agree to wage reductions is one thing but your own La Masia players? They will have to do so as they know no one is bigger than the club. Players aren't obliged to do so but there will be public/fan fallout if they do not

You can also easily make the argument that it takes some cheek from the cantera players to agree to such wages at the club under Bartomeu, knowing it was never going to be sustainable

Would you accept a wage cut 2 years in a row? That's what you are expecting them to do.

It's more than that actually. If i was asked to take a wage cut 2 years in a row while the organization made massive cuts and they were doing everything they could to avoid layoffs perhaps i would have done it. But taking a wage cut 2 years in a row while the organization makes extravagant spending and offers high salaries to new employees? Hell no!

At the end of the day, they're professionals. Not idiots.

Part of the public fallout is Laporte goes on and signs multiple free agents or then just flat out big money transfers (like Raphinha and Lewandowski) despite not clearing salary space for them. Then leaks the shit how some players need to reduce their salary.

That's the coward way of doing it. Putting public against their own players when these players came to Barcelona partly because they got that contract. The real way would be to tell the players we cannot afford you so you need to find a new home. If they don't agree, then you need to eat that shit. But no, Laporta is a populist politician so he does the coward way by turning his own fans against the players he wants out.

Absolute trash person.

I wouldn't accept a wage reduction unless the business I worked for was in danger of going under and others had done similarly

In Busquets' case, he is among the highest wage earners even after a previous reduction. He is closer to the end of his career than the beginning and he is Barca born & bred - he will want to help his club, just not through the press

One, all of these signings intended to strengthen the squad are on lower wages than him (Busquets, for example). The leaks, they are unfortunate but silly to assume it comes from Laporta - this is not how he works. Must not forget there is an entorno at Barca, particularly a toxic element of media that look to undermine the club at every turn

Angelino to freaking Hoffenheim must be one of the weirdest rumors this summer. He would be great for us.

it's hard to compare Laporta and Zhang family. Laporta is a prosperous man, achieved many things in business and in sport too. of course it can't be comparable with Zhang, totally fraud and corrupt, should been in jail for ignoring to pay his debt himself ($255M) in Hongkong.

Incomparable IMHO. Laporta is a politician/lawyer more than a business man - he is first & foremost a club member, he is blaugrana through & through and it's success is dear to his heart. That is undeniable. Not a lot of owners (Bear in mind, he is the leader/President and not the owner but rather an owner as a member like all of us)

I believe this aspect distinguishes him, even from Bartomeu who grew up as an Asspanyol member and made his name in business.

I like Marc a lot and would've loved him back but he's overpriced there - question of supply, demand and Chelsea needing to overpay

The overpayment will also happen to Inter with Skriniar if he is sold without first bringing in a defender.

Nah, it's more of a question of morality, money laundering and financial corruption in football.

He will because he loves the club, and we do have to remember that footballers have it pretty good. However, it'd be nice if Barcelona didn't ask some of the players who turned them into the global force that they have become over the last 15 years to take a pay cut over mutually-agreed contract terms because of the club's mismanagement, and figured out other ways of moving forward.

I think that's the point that is trying to be hit.
