If the finances allow, we should absolutely fucking bring him back. We made a severe mistake by not signing Biraghi (or anyone else) but we can make up for it with Dimarco. He's better than what Young and Perisic have displayed this season.
Most importantly, he's actually left-footed (unlike Perisic, fake left-footer) and he's a very, very cultured striker of the ball. In addition to that goal Dario posted above, see:
-
penalty and free kick double for Italy U19 vs England
-
free kick vs Zambia - FIFA U-20 World Cup 2017
-
his screamer against us for Parma
- He almost scored an identical goal in that
2 - 2 draw at Verona last season (1:15 mark)..
- another clone goal in a
friendly match for us
-
dribble and 50m goal vs Pro Patria in a 2019 pre season friendly
Guy has always had a killer left foot.
There are also very few natural (and good) wide midfielders these days, in the form of a young Candreva for example. We're always going to be looking at converted FB's or wingers for that wing back role and I personally much prefer an attacking full back like Biraghi / Dimarco to a makeshift wide forward.
If we sign him though, we actually need to fucking play him and develop him. No point giving him Pinamonti or Lazaro minutes. My worry is that he may not be physical enough for Conte either in terms of strength, or limitless running, like Hakimi/Barella.
All that said, I don't even know how we can buy him in the first place considering we're apparently paying our players in food stamps and Domino's coupons
