I always was in favor of bringing him back but if Perisic keeps playing well i don't really know. It would make no sense to bring him back to be the third option on left wing and having Perisic and Dimarco as your main options on the left side would be a bit underwhelming.

Reminder that there's a certain Ashley Young making 3m a season holding a roster spot.

Ashley Young to go and another to come to take his spot. But I'm not sure it should be Dimarco.

Which is an embarrassment and he should definitely be gone at the end of the season. But it doesn't change the fact i would like someone better than Perisic for the left wing (e.g. Gosens).

Selling Perisic, letting Young walk, and bringing in a new LWB and Dimarco is the ideal solution. Unfortunately, we just won't have enough money to spend for this to be a reality.

Agreed. How do you afford Gosens without a major sale? The answer is 'you don't'.

Dimarco has been far and away the third-best wingback in the league after Hernandez and Gosens (as always) this season, and if we're low on cash and intend to go forward with the three-man defense, there's simply no better option than a homegrown, low-cost - high reward signing that doesn't involve selling off core pieces of our squad - assuming we have some sort of buyback-agreement, of course.

I’m fine with the version of Perisic we've seen the last few weeks plus Dimarco next year. I think Dimarco under Conte could surprise a lot of people

Yes, if Perisic can find the motivation to chip in for the whole season, why not. It will be his last contract year so in that regard he might put the effort to secure a good deal as a free agent in 2022. Other route is we try to sell him this summer to net some plusvalenza and get rid of his big gross wage.

What I don't want to see is us giving him a new contract. That would destroy the motivation to work hard like he's been doing now. He's offensively minded player after all and this is a real sacrifice by him what he's doing now. A bit like what Eto'o did for Mourinho when he played the winger instead of striker. Sacrificing his own well-being and fame for the good of the team (comparison just for sacrifice part, not trying to compare these two players).

edit. Okay, this was not Perisic thread.

Forgot about this guy, he's alright isn't he. Suppose he would be better than Young right now if we had him, love having home grown talent in the team too. I haven't watched much of him this season admittedly.

Apparently all the reporting about the deal with Verona has been bs. Verona have an option to buy closer to 10mil instead of the usual 4.5-6 I had seen reported. Inter do not have a buyback option and weren't planning on bringing him back when they made the deal.

So if Hellas pay the fee and Dimaro puts pen to paper he's gone (he may have already done so for all I know). This is according to GdS.

This shows to me Conte didn't rate Dimarco at all. And that's why they let him go with no intention to bring him back and despite the lack of funds. After the season Dimarco is having Verona are going to ask for 15m minimum. Nice one Inter.

And yeah. The player has already signed the new long term contract when he agrees to join a team on loan with option to buy. The rest is up to the teams.

10m is a hell of money for a club like Verona. Especially in this Covid situation. Their most expensive this season is..what, 3m?

I am hoping this case is like what we had with Cancelo. Everyone saw he was way worth than the buyout clause, but we didn't buy simply because of no money.

Well if we get 10m€ for Dimarco, that isn't bad either. That's 10m€ pure plusvalenza. He has basically one good season under his belt (given he continues having starting spots for the rest of the season).

It's quite possible we can have a deal with Verona that we pay them something like 1-2m€ extra on top of that 10m€, because like PHM1605 mentioned, it's not all that certain they would want to invest 10m€ for a wingback. With that deal they would net small profit, Inter would net nice plusvalenza and get the club-trained player back.

I'll drop dead from shock if Verona sign Dimarco for 10M and hold on to him. They're either signing him with the intention of selling him, or sending him straight back here.

Yeah. It's probably just another pinamonti type of deal.

Can’t we just give them Dalbert in exchange. For a team of their quality he is a good option. He played decently for Fiorentina a team with more ambition.

Sadly it’s not fifa and I can’t just trade Young for him :)

On fifa I'd just pay the recall fee which is like 50000 euro.

Btw, great volley goal today.

This guy deserves a legitimate shot next year. I hope he gets one.
