I always thought Inter miss a huge chances to sign a better Gabriel which is Jesus but then after world cup its only made me realize there is huge gap between Brazilian league and European league. Put Gabigol in good system team like City and he will score a tons of goal, so do with Jesus just put him at Inter and he will just suck ass and get loaned out to SPAL a years later.

A truly top player should make it no matter there they are. A mediocre player gets carried up a level.

The problem is when the number of players dependable of getting carried increases then there is an equal reduction in quality players in the first eleven.

I don't question his ability to score tap ins, but what this Inter squad needs right now is a protagonist, not a guy who just wanna get carried. He doesn't even need to be world class, he just has to be as good as Politano, and that's sufficient.

And both gabriel obviously not top player, even Jesus will only reach Robinho level at best.

What about the countless examples of talented players not making it at a certain club and then becoming great when they move teams?

That makes them not absolute true top players.

By logic, they are false top players.

(At the very least this means they are not average players).

'Making it' is a range of factors, to be honest. Some of that can also be age, maturity, etc. There's a difference between circumstantially great and great overall.

One of the problems is he's purely an 'in the box' striker, he doesn't help with build up play and he's not a great crosser, while we would stick him in the wing because we already have Icardi in that role and 2 would be overkill. I don't think he and Icardi could be in the same lineup effectively. I would try to loan him out again to see if he really has changed and has what it takes to make it in Europe.
And yet,his coach says:
He was once again decisive, taking advantage of the spaces very well. He is not a forward that lives in the box, he is not a reference but he is working to improve this attribute. It is important for him and for his future

So,are we sure based on 100 minutes here what he really is?

I said that mainly due to what I've seen from him since he returned to Santos. Look at his goals, they're almost all one touch poacher goals.

Even his coach says he needs to improve his reference game in that quote you posted.

He is clearly not a classic poacher like Icardi from the begin with since if you watch the whole games he still bit struggling to find a spaces in the box but guess he will improving that. That is then made another question what is he good actually? he obviouslny not the one who comfortable with the ball also, we try to play him as RW or SS but he struggling so hard. During his santos spell, seems the coach notice that and try to transform him into fox in the box striker rather than let him hold the ball and wasted on unnecessary dribbling, they just let him to not made 1-2 touch only and feel like its starting work for him.

Gabriel Barbosa: "I am different, more mature. Future? Will calmly think about it"

Gabigol-ve%CC%82-melhor-fase-da-carreira-no-Santos-Estou-diferente.jpg

Top scorer of the Brazilian league with 12 goals, Gabriel Barbosa is enjoying one of the best moments in his career at Santos. Speaking to the media, the Inter owned forward looks back to the past from which he has learned many lessons:

“I am currently experiencing the best moment of my career on and off the pitch. You can clearly see that not only by the amount of goals that I have but I have changed in terms of tactically as well as from a human point of view. I have improved a lot after the experience in Europe. I am different, more mature now despite my young age.”

Quick words on his future.

“I have a contract with Inter and I have a lot of love for Santos. I don’t want to think about it now but I am sad because the matches ahead are numbered. What happens after that it does not depend on me. I am very happy now and at the end of the year we will talk and solve the situation. Staying here? I think it is better to calmly think about the future because it is complicated. Everyone knows my love for Santos.”

Yeah, if we can somehow trick some club to put 15m€ for him, pull the trigger immediately.

edit. Forgot his salary is so big that there are only few clubs which ticks both requirements: can be his salary, player is good enough for the club. Honestly no clubs pops to my mind atm, but hopefully there emerge some clubs next summer. :D

Absolutely useless loan, we knew he could be a "star" in Brazil already but that sadly didn't help him one bit with his experience in Italy. Hope we can fool some thirsty nouveau riche club into buying him thanks to that loan.

Well, let's not mock him. He wasn't played here and the reason we know off it was his lack of dedication to training as hard as everyone else - at least based on what De Boer has said. He says he's matured and is our player, a young prospect. The hype didn't help his young mind when he came here. He has not spoken ill against the club or the coaches, unlike some other turd who is still here. I would honestly give him a chance.
