After watching yesterday's game, the question is do we really need Pandev? In the absence of Eto, we can just play with a 5 man midfield, which seems to bring out the best in both Deki and Sjnieder.

The only reason why I am somewhat inclined to getting Pandev, is that he is different from our current crop of strikers, and he is a hard worker, who has an amazing work rate. But Pandev still has all the possibilities of just becoming another typical Inter signing. avg player with huge salary that we wont just be able to get rid of.

Pandev should only arrive if we can get rid of Mancini/Quaresma/Suazo. These three have contributed even less than Vieira. It is not going to be easy though, Inter will probably have to pay part of their wages to sent them on loan and god knows who is going to be willing to buy them during the summer.

Another choice will be getting an offensive midfielder with good work rate to cover Sneijder and go with the lone striker formation.

shahz and LW19, exactly. There are no quarantees Pandev will be a sure hit. And as his salary is rumored to be 3m€/year, he should be. Suazo was an experienced Serie A scorer and yet he didn't quite hit it in Inter. The famous dead meat is still here so we have to get rid of it first before we tie ourselves to another relatively expensive contract.

This is the ultimate reasons why I've been against getting Pandev on January. I understand why Inter might want to get him on January (relationship with Lotito + absence of Eto'o) but I don't agree those reasons justify the acquisition. Quick look reveals that there are derby and away match in Bari as matches we should mention particularly. Do we really need an extra player for those two matches?

Suazo just had one good season before coming to us. Infact the season before he came to us, he scored like only 6 goals from open play. Its unfair to compare the two.

Like I said, Pandev is anything but a world beater, but he is different from our players. He wont make us improve in the CL, but that is a moot point anyways. If we want to play with 2 strikers in Eto's absence, then Pandev is a neccessity. Cause players like Obinna, Suzao and Arnautovic are almost as good as not even in our team. But if we can manage with a 5man midfield, we dont reallty need Pandev.

Also, wouldnt Eto be gone for more than just 2 matches?

Suazo wasn't a starter for Cagliari in the 04/05 season but scored 7 goals. In 05/06 he scored 22 goals and in 06/07 he scored 14 goals. I don't know about penalty rates but it doesn't matter. He was pretty comfortable scoring goals in Serie A whatsoever. And my point is still that as Pandev is no world beater, we shouldn't take his contract on January not knowing how and when we can get rid of the dead meat and their contracts (Suazo/Quaresma/Mancini). This is my ultimate point all the time, not specifically comparing Pandev to anyone (except Cassano).

And I took those two matches because they looked to be the toughest ones in that period when Eto'o is MIA. We can deal without him against Chievo, Siena, Parma and Cagliari. I mean getting a new player to fill in Eto'o absence for 6 matches is a fucking ridiculous idea. No one can disagree with me on this one. Part of the reason of getting Pandev is surely that and it's just plain stupidity.

Yup, and out of those 14 goals, 8 were penalties. I am not too big on Pandev myself, but he will never be as big of a flop as Suazo. He has played in Europe's biggest competition and managed to score, and has performed waaaaaaay more consistently than Suazo did before joining us. Suazo was nothing else but a result of Moratti's cheapness.

I dont know what our big plan is, if we are getting Pandev just to cover Eto's absence or if we actually do have bigger plans for him as the 3rd or 4th striker. If we actually do wait for summer to get him or wait to sign him till we have sold our dead meats, we might loose him by then

lmao..
so let me understand this...
you guys want a "world beater" to be your 4th striker??
are you serious??
are you listening to what you are saying?

a 4th striker should be a world beater...

sorry....that has to be the most retarded thing i've ever heard of

i'll repeat what i said in another thread, where some dude was saying that Inter has no depth...

if manU was to lose rooney and berbatov, who are the "quality" replacements??
if chelsea were to lose anelka and drogba, who are the "quality" replacements??
if liverpool were to lose ONLY torres, who are the "quality" replacements??
if barcelona were to lose ibra and messi, who are the "quality" replacements??

stop playing FM/FIFA/PES please.....
pandev is actually too good to be a 4th striker....
so if he wants to take up that position, I will be more than satisfied

No one has said 4th striker should be a world beater. Don't assume things which are never said. You are right that Pandev is too good to be a 4th striker. If Balotelli is demoted to 4th striker spot, it will fuck him up. So Pandev is not a good acquisition with that salary rumored (3m€/season).

Eto'o Milito and Balo is too thin. Suazo is on the team cafe but we arent playing him, so basically he isnt even a squad player. Pandev has to come, at the same time I think Suazo, Mancini and Quaresma will get loan deals atleast.

I think the Genoa game proved that Sneijder is more valuable than Eto'o or Milito to this team. I would rather have a good back up for Sneijder than a back up for our forwards. I honestly do not think all 3 of those strikers will be injured at the same time. And we proved we only need 1 striker at a time!

Actually the most retarded thing is when people dont follow or most probably dont understand the conversation, butt in trying to sound all cool, and start throwing hissy fits.

Djorkaeff wasn't a STRIKER, and this is Inter, we have always bought overloads of strikers and still failed. Well, on the past that is.

Pandev to Inter

It is now certain: the Macedonian of Lazio will back as a Nerazzurro
Lotito will sale or free him in January, otherwise in June

As predicted...

Pandev can play a role similar to what Sneijder is doing now, or he can be great on the left flank for us.

Why all the talk of Mancini/Quaresma??? Those two were TOLD in the summer they had no place in the squad, but both decided to stick around and collect paychecks.
Bringing in Pandev just kinda shows them, Ya, your time is up, time to get going.

I said it before, i will say it now..

As a Macedonian my biggest wish is to see a Macedonian player in Inter... With Jose leading our team IMO Pandev will be great signing.. Hard working player that can play on various position can't be a bad signing... Before jose came I was againts him coming to Inter coz I thought it will ruin his career, but now i think otherwise... Of course, everyone can flop...

Just see the world transfers in the past, for example Sheva to Chelsea, he was one of the best striekers in the world if not the best, and he flop... So any signed player would not be 100% success...

Pandev can play as LW, CF, SS, AMC, or even CM if needed (he sucks in that position though. i have seen him)... And IMO it would be great signing, back-up player that can cover more than one position, can assist and score goals... What more do you need? ;)

In order to flop, you have to be given a chance....Sheva was never given a chance at Chelsea...
