I think this was the worst day of the WC for me. Very boring. None of the matches, be it Brazil-Portugal or CIV-DPR or Spain-Chile or the Swiss one was good or had any bearing. Sad

Hope the next ones are good.

Well, Honduras, for one was a pitiful representative from CONCACAF....Entire tournament, they had two shots on goal, today only 1...You come to the WC and show zero aspiration to score, you shouldn't even bother getting onto a plane to come to the WC.

Pretty pathetic, IMHO

much more easy for spain play vs portugal and japan/paraguay, than brazil and netherlands. but portugal will not be easy anyway.

switzerland proved that the game 1 was luck.

They shouldn't have been there but for the good ol' USA.

Man, Ronaldo has some scary pace. We talk about Maicon being built like a tank but look at Ronaldo. Imo, the best player in the world now. Fantastic with both feet and head, lightning pace, can take defenders at will and clinical finishing. If Portugal can keep the defence tight, and provide good support to him, they can do well.

Individually, he's the most complete player in the world. But mentally, nope.

I'm talking about his selfishness and his general unwillingness to sacrifice himself for the team. You can clearly see that he was unhappy about being asked to play as a target man for Portugal and sometimes went out of position, trying to do something spectacular before utterly failing.

Portugal are a one man team. Ronaldo cant do everything, the rest are nowhere close to him. They need more attacking players.

For once, I agree with Ronaldo. The blame has to fall on the coach's shoulders. Playing Ronaldo as a sole forward, you are not utilizing any of his talents. I think was a very bad decision.

It's not about whether the coach is right or wrong. It's just about obeying the coach's instruction in the team, as long as it makes sense.

To make an analogy, Eto'o accepted playing on the right, much more defensively, when he was asked to and he still played his heart out.

With Ronaldo's case, you can see how reluctant he was and it affected his performance.

Playing Ronaldo as a lone target man is not a good idea but it's not totally outlandish that CR had the right to disobey Quieroz's orders.

He did. But it was apparent that it wasn't working. And that left him frustrated. I don't support that fact that he spoke out in front of the cameras. But I am sure he tried enough on the pitch.
