I think you're kinda conflating two issues, IMHO

I dont think anyone didnt want Frattesi, but many people as you correctly say wanted to keep Broz. If you present it in a straight up trade, I do wonder, I think you might be right but I dont know for sure. Separated, though, I dont think there was any contention about wanting to sign Frattesi

Nervy ending but that was to be expected. I love to see how many good results Inzaghi brings against Barcelonaesque coaches or how good we play against teams like that even if we lose.

The start of the game wasn't good, but we got better.
