Ibra needs to stay the **** away from those freekicks.

Ibra is a right foot players, while Chivu is a left foot player, they are executing different free kicks. How can you put those 2 in the same line ?

ps. It seems Middlesbrough has better midfield than we do, if they can create enough chances to score 2 goals. How about swapping our midfield and theirs?

Let's see. We have:

Cambiasso, Cesar, Dacourt, Pelé, Javier Zanetti, Jimenez, Figo, Maniche, Solari, Stankovic, Vieira

And they have:

Julio Arca, Gary O'Neil, George Boateng, Fabio Rochemback, Mohamed Shawky, Stewart Downing, Lee Cattermole, Adam Johnson, Jason Kennedy, Graeme Owens, Joshua Walker

I wonder, how many games they played in their national teams, I guess a lot, if they can score 2 goals. Even 1 of them was in 8'th minute, wow maybe our players could get some pressure lessons from them. Sure we have like 20x more international experience, but hey

Sadly, that's not a joke when we play with a different formation in such a big game, which we have not been used to since a while. I thought Mancini had learnt from his previous mistakes that we should attack and not play with a not used to formation in big games.

The red card didn't help us for sure but still, we sucked till the card as well. Anywaz, it was bound to happen as we had not been playing well recently (except against Livorno). May be we were without creative players in the midfield or so on. We have got 3 weeks left and there are like 3/4 matches for us to gel together and get ready for the match.

I hope Figo will get to play more in these matches, coz we need one of those fabulous performance against Liverpool. If our midfield shines, only then we can hope for Zlatan and co. to deliver. Another reason we need Figo, is for his free-kicks and corners.

Oh btw, ooops, Liverpool won the game 3-2 (Torres got a hattrick). I think we should target 4 goals and only hope that they would score one at the most.

To be honest, that was how I felt before. However, just take a look at the poll we've set up at the Mancini thread and you'll see how wrong you were. Most of us actually want Mancini to say.

Maicon has been a disaster this season, pool game was no exception, perhaps mancini should consider benching him and put JZ back at RB and play vieira, cambiasso, maniche and figo midfield.

It should add more offensive power to the midfield and without sacrificing to much on the right wing and be better defensively on the right as well.

Just a though, but mancini has been reluctant to field zanetti as RB this season for reason even though maicon has been injured/suspended alot.

hmmm ... well this is not only about this year's CL ... it has been last 4 year's European performances.

Only if there can be some signs of improvement ... clueless at how to score goals in Europe ... Valencia, Villareal, Milan and now Liverpool.

Agreed.

After the Roma match ...

1. Rest Cambiasso for a couple of matches.
2. Play Viera and Maniche
3. Play Rivas, Chivu and Burdisso as CD.
4. Materazzi on the bench.
5. Try out JZ at RB for a couple of games - as I see it Maicon is not adding a great lot to our games lately.

For the Liverpool match, the first thing we need to do is to get the ball and keep it. Personally I wud like to have Figo in front of the midfield trio of Cambiasso-Viera-Maniche, provided of course they do well inbetween.

Also switch JZ to a full-back position - which side? depends on the forms of Maxwell and Maicon

Not sure about Cruz. Mancini said Ibra will definietely be back and as early as against Napoli

I was just about to say that and had posted a similar line up with J.Zanetti and Maicon as wing backs sometime back.
