I think fans here shitting on Pioli are forgetting something we all know very well. And I guess Pioli knows it too. Our entire defence is crap apart from Miranda. It matters less when you play Bologna, Pescara, etc, but we cannot play against top sides like Juve, Roma and Napoli.

Pioli clearly understands this, specially after the humiliation in Naples. So against top sides, he gambles. Instead of starting Nagashit or Analsaldi and getting murdered, he tried out Perisic and Candreva as wing backs. Can you really blame him? His gamble against Juve almost worked. Today without Miranda, it was a spectacular failure... but can anyone here guarantee we would have done better by putting Ansaldi against Salah?

I have little doubt that given 2 classy fullbacks and a top partner for Miranda in the centre of defence, Pioli will stop this experimentation. And we will start beating the top sides. For now, I am just happy Inter are winning against the smaller teams with consistency. If we had just done that all season, we would have been there in the top 3.

Voted Icardi, and not just for the goal. He's the only one who gave a shit for the whole 90 minutes, even if he was outnumbered 3v1 for most of the time. DDA would probably have come second if it were not for Perisic stepping it up later on.

Candreva must have had one of his worst games in an Inter shirt. Mostly due to poor decision-making.

despite the many mistakes he made, i voted perisic as our best player: he is the only one who always makes his brain work even when we are really messed up, like tonight.

another huge mistake we made: we complained about the referee the whole match. there is no better way to lose your focus on the match.

we need to stop complaining about the referees. Us supporters can do it, pioli and the players must not, even though they would have good reasons to do so (there was a penalty for a faul strootman made on eder): they have to leave this to the management and FOCUS ON THE FUCKING GODDAMN MATCH ONLY FOR FUCK'S SAKE.

Here is how I rate the performances today:

Good: Perisic, Kondogbia
Okay: Murillo, Handanovic, Icardi, D'Ambrosio, Banega
Meh: Candreva, Gagliardini, Mario, Eder, Barbosa
Fuckers: Medel, Brozovic

Let me just focus on the good:

Kondogbia remained calm throughout the game, and usually came out with the ball in the midfield skirmishes. That is saying something against the best midfield in Italy.

Perisic worked his ass off in the first half as a wing back, running up and down. Very impressed with his defensive work. Then in the last 30 minutes when he was freed to attack as a winger, most of our attacks came from him including the assist. That double fake cross near the end was awesome, Rudiger fell down twice and was left for dead. My pick for MOTM.

We're still a far superior team than the one he inherited. Plus, it's not like this Roma team isn't a good side.

Why, just why the 3-man defense?

The defense looks worse, the midfield looks way worse, the attack looks way, way worse. So what's the point of the 3-man defense?

Just on the same mistakes point. Napoli have good wingers, he played 4 at the, we got raped. Juve have good wingers, he played 3 at the back and wing backs, we done much better. I dont see how he's making the same mistakes over and over again. I'd also like to know how many times Pioli has made a sub and that sub has either scored or be directly involved in our goal. His subs are usually spot on, last weekend Banega and Gabigoal

We got raped because he played Ansaldi, if you play him against a good (not even a great or top one) winger obviously your team is getting raped.

He constantly gets the starting formation wrong, that's why his subs look good, we shouldn't need to grind a result against small teams, at least not constantly.

We have played with a 3-man defense for at least 4 games now, it had looked awful everytime, yet he keeps insisting with it, there was also no need for it given that we were playing good with a back-4, so it's a completely unforced mistake. He kept starting Ansaldi for way too many games despite the Argentinian looking truly horrendous in every one of those matches. He also dropped the Kondogbia-Gagliardini partnership in midfield after it looked fantastic and had Brozović not gotten injured I don't know if he had went back to it. There's more too.

Can people just shut up if we won againts roma? For once we get a competence coach we confidence with, and you just want us to back on neverending nightmare to find a 'Right' coach. I maybe one of those interista who raised an eyebrow when we appointed Pioli but he proved me wrong and get my support from months ago.

It's extremely easy to find the 'Right' coach though, just stop with the small team coaches.

It looked like we came up against a more mature team. Naingollan, Strootman, and De Rossi are in their prime years (or just past it in the case of De Rossi). Gagliardini - Kondogbia and Joao Mario looked a bit naive at times tonight, and physically lost out more then they're used to. Naingollan against Gagliardini tonight showed the gap that still exists, IMO that's the difference between 22 and 28. We need to remember that we have a really young side, and as talented as we are in the midfield we are also really young there in an area of the pitch where experience counts for a lot.

The most worrying thing for me is that offensively we're still not good enough. We simply struggle to hurt good teams. 0 goals against Napoli, 0 against Juve, and 1 goal tonight at home. A Naingollan screamer can happen (sometimes even twice apparently), but we have to be able to hurt teams back. We were toothless up front for large portions of the match and it's happening pretty consistently against the better defenses. Icardi wasn't helped today by the fact the two closest players to him were often Brozovic and Joao Mario, but for me he hasn't done enough in the big games this year.

People say Pioli is shit without realizing that even Mou or any other top coach would have likely to have lost to Bluve and Roma as well.

PEOPLE STOP BEING SO NAIVE!!! We have to admit that we have the inferior team in compare to all the three top sides. They are better than us in all areas of the pitch: defense, mid, attack. We can't sit there with a weak team having players like D'Ambrosio, Ansaldi, Murillo, Medel, Nagatomo, Eder, Palacio, Santon and other players who would not even get a starting place at Sampdoria and hope for a miracle. We have to be progmatic, football is business, you wanna win then reinforce your team. But not by just spending tens of millions on players who hardly proven to be champions (Kondo, Gabi) and hope that they will shine, but on proven world-class players. We need experienced world class players to get into CL and the scudetto race next season. James would be a perfect signing, but most of all we need to change almost everyone at the back, with the exception of Miranda. Hope that our owners and managers realize it.

I must admit Gagliardini had a night to forget. There are so many "top experts" who will tear him apart in their comments now. Yesterday he was a hero today is a villain... But I hope people will remember that he is a young very promising lad and he was outplayed by one of the best players in the world. He doesn't have a lot of experience in the Serie A and is still adjusting to the fact that he is playing in a very competitive team where one mistake could be very costly. I hope this loss will motivate him to give even more in every training to come back stronger. And the next time he faces Naingo he will get his revenge.

I remember that Inter had a chance Naingolan a few years ago... we also could have signed Salah. Roma has done excellent work on the market. They also have done well to give chances to their coaches and this brings results. We need to keep Pioli at all costs. One lost battle does not mean that we have lost the war. We need to move on and strike back in the next games. We still have a chance to get in front of Napoli. Now is the moment of truth for the team, a chance to show our character and our will be champions. With Pioli we have excellent chance to do so. In comparing to everyone after Mou Pioli has done very well. The facts speak for themselves.

I am definitely not happy about the loss but atleast the bosses in the stands see that we need some more class players starting with our defence every single position( taking into consideration miranda's age)and a more creative trequartista who can score free kicks..and a person who can give icardi competition for his place. Kdog and Gagliardini can build a solid partnership for the future.

Its a matter of experience.. just look at our young midfielder kodg, gagli, joaomario (23yo) vs nainggolan, strootman,de rossi (27++)

and also 3 out of 4 goals our last conceded were from long shots (cuadrado, 2 Nainggolan)
pioli must realize we shouldnt give so much space for the enemy to create such goal anymore

Atalanta won against Napoli, FREAKING ATALANTA. And people here is telling us it's okay to lose against Roma because we win against smaller teams? Loser mentality. You guys deserve Mazzarri.
