100% agree. On top of this, Real would want top position in group for the knock-out phase draws.
Cambiasso seems to share the same opinion
“Inter started very well and deserved the win,” Cambiasso, who spent a decade with the club between 2004 and 2014, explained whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.
“They didn’t do well when trying to double their lead. Lukaku made a difference in an amazing way. In one on one situations it is impossible to mark him. Conceding just before half time can kill you but the coach’s reaction make it clear that the team is there.”
“Real Madrid will not accept finishing second, they will play to win. Inter are coming from behind in the group and we can be optimistic.
“I think that the way things are, with a win Inter will qualify. There will be no playing for the draw in Madrid, Inter have everything in their hands.”
He then went on to further sing the praises of Lukaku, who continues to be a talisman for Inter, by adding: “Lukaku is not the same as the others, he is a leader. Whether he wants to say it or not, but he is a leader.”
