To me that sounds extremely fishy and City-ish stuff, but I guess they know what they are doing. :closeenough:

I think its not entirely out of line. The stadium naming rights can be far more substantial i think at bigger clubs? Its certainly not so outlandish to cause red flags

I understood it was for the training ground naming rights. 40m€ annually for that sounds simply inflated.

Suning are putting money where their mouth is. I have to give them that.

I wanted them to after all this "Inter is coming", but with recent events, hiring Marotta, Conte, this and other suggested deals and transfers coming up, I'm satisfied and looks like they want us to get to the top.

In that case, it's just a matter of time. Hopefully in 2 years we'll get there as one of the top 5 teams in Europe.

yep. Ive always said it takes time to build a top team - its much harder than now than even two decades ago, because of financial disparity and so on.

Coefficientts in the CL make it really hard - ffs we've had two hard groups in two years - and you need to improve those to improve your chances of going on a CL run. You need a CL run for the revenue to be able to buy better players. We also need a stadium really.

It's gonna take years to build this team up, but at least we're doing the right thing by focusing on very talented younger players and splashing the cash as necessary.

Yeah. It's a couple of years ago as well, dont forget.

I think Liverpool sold the rights to their training tops for like 10m? So between that and the Utd deal, 25m isnt so outlandish as it stands.

Venue naming rights: Great news, thanks for sharing. How much are others getting for naming rights/year?

Pirelli: 'If Inter wanted Messi...'

Shirt sponsor Pirelli says while it can ‘help’ Inter sign Lionel Messi, the buck lies with President Steven Zhang. ‘We can’t do anything significant.’

Messi is said to be seriously considering his future at Barcelona as he enters the final year of his contract, and Inter have always been linked with the No 10 whenever there has been talk of him leaving Camp Nou.

When asked if Pirelli could help the Nerazzurri like Fiat did in contributing to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus transfer, CEO Marco Tronchetti Provera admitted the COVID-19 crisis made such support difficult.

“Honestly, at a time like this, we’re unable to invest in sports more than we are, between Formula 1, the America’s Cup and Inter,” Tronchetti Provera told Gr Parlamento.

“We have to ask Steven Zhang to make an effort himself. We can help, but we can’t do anything significant.”

Why did the guy from Pirelli even make that statement? All I read from that is that if Inter wanted to get messi they can fuck off if they think we will help...

Why are you so bitter towards Pirelli? Are you 12? If we deserved more when we signed the agreement we would have gotten it, but we didnt, and probably still dont. We havent won a thin in a decade. Who's fault is that? Why would Pirelli pay us $50MM to have their brand associated with a team that loses to Bologna and draws PSV?

They wouldn't and that's right but how Tronchetti-Provera talked just sounded funny. As if they are some kind of huge sponsor who finances our big moves.

I'm pretty sure this was taken completely out of context and the translation does very little to help that.

We improved a lot in revenue as we can see with our transfers and increased wages for manager and players, but it's hard to go further up cause other teams don't easily fall down on the list. Maybe in 5 years we can come in TOP10, with this trend 1-2 years will be maybe enough to pass Dortmund and Atletico, and then another 2-3 years to pass Arsenal and Tottenham maybe (if Spurs start to fall down) and to be around with equal revenue as Juventus. And this all without a new stadium. And probably that will be a maximum position on list without a new private 24/7 ground.

So basically they asked Mr Pirelli if the Chinese asked Pirelli to help Inter make a move for Messi and he seemed to reply half-seriously saying that it's a difficult time for Inter but if Zhang (aka Suning) wants to buy Messi, then they can ask for Pirelli to chip in, but obviously not carry the load of the transfer.

Which is not usual. The usual would have been "signing Messi would be a dream for Inter", another bs cliche or say how that's never going to happen.
