its not about being emotional, its about the fact that he is still one of our best and most consistient players. the fast he is 38 is irrelevant as it's not effecting how he plays.

look at Stankovic, he can hardly stay on his feet for 90 mins depite being useless for most of them, he is past it and is 5 years younger than JZ.

players don't 'hit a number' then have to go regardless of how well they are doing

if JZ plays at LB and we sell maicon, then faraoni can get more time at RB. i want to see young players on but JZ getting a game is different than Stankovic, lucio, maicon taking up space

I couldn't agree more.

It make no sense to me why anyone would want to contemplate that it is time for Zanetti to retire or be replaced just because of his age. Come on, even at the "ripe old age ( football wise )" of 38, he is still as fit as any other players still playing that are much younger, and rarely gets injured despite playing full 90mins week in week out. After watching the Siena game, I am 100% convinced that our beloved Capitano can easily play another 2 to 3 seasons or perhaps more. The measure of keeping a player should be on performance. When he made those runs and skip pass defenders like they weren't there, or when he made those fabulous tackles to win back the ball, that's the working of a player as fit as any player in his 20s but with a 20+ years of football experience backing it up. That is something that you cannot buy with money.

A heir should be groomed to replace the Capitano when he eventually retires, but I doubt the footballing world will see another Zanetti anytime soon.

will take decades to get that kind of player again as him. Maybe his Son can do it

I dont think there will ever be another Zanetti.

I cant recall any soccer player with 38 years doing what he does. Actually it is hard to find 25 years old who can run 90 minutes as he does...

True. He is going to be the legend of Inter ( he is already ) but as well going to brake records for most playing player in Seria A. I can imagen that day is coming

All these photos at various places do make him look old. He actually looks young only on the pitch and in our colours. That's his skin.
