I'm happy with this signing ostensibly but can someone in the know give me a quick overview of why Monaco are happy to let him go?

My guess is that the coach does not like his tactical indiscipline. Also, Jovetic scored as many goals as Keita last season in half the minutes. Monaco is a team which sells its stars and still expects CL qualification, so it makes sense to sell Keita specially because they are getting an offer for more than what they paid.

I suspect if Inter offer 30m cash now (the same amount Monaco paid for Keita), we will still get the deal. But this loan + option structure is a win-win for both clubs.

Really excited for this signing tbh. Serie A proven, young, still has the potential to be world class. And we're risking very little here. The most important thing is that we'll have potent attacking options this year, which is something we desperately needed last season

Interisti already get used with some limited option in our attack while at the same time whining about Perisic, Icardi or Candreva invisble month eventho they forgeting all exhausted because we have literally no one to be their backup. Icardi, Lautaro, Perisic, Politano, Karamoh, Nainggolan, Keita and Even Candreva if he stay, there is no more Eder 20 minute wasted of life anymore and still people not happy with this fact.

It's not a matter of being unhappy about this move. I said this earlier, a player with his characteristics is more than welcome. The problem is the whole Balde Keita package. It might implode. It might prove more trouble than worth.

Its matter of perspective, people want Nice guy Capitano like Zanetti and againts someone like Icardi who they thought is troublemaker as captain but then they forgot we used to have Ranocchia which is nice guy as captained but then being useless on the pitch with no leadership either. We had enough good and nice player here, and think Spalletti knows well this team need character. You've got De Vrij, Asamoah and Politano who they really seems nice guy, and then on other side you balanced with some bad boys like Nainggolan, Vrsaljko or even Keita wouldnt be harm at all for the team. Ofc hot headed player like Keita is like double blade to us, when he goes south it would be bad for the team but when he actually perform he will gonna step his games even more and this Spalletti job to find how to made him work. We already experience some really nut guy like Balotelli and Osvaldo, and I dont see Keita will goes as worst as both of them. Even now our current troublemaker actually had no problem with other player or even Spalletti since his personal problem is how Inter treated him badly and he solely hate the mgmt who betrayed him but so far he isnt making locker room fuss with other player and they seem supporting him as player.

Keita isn't a big enough nutter to disrupt our locker room. He's a big enough nutter to turn into a useless player for us, but that's the extent of it. We're giving Spalletti another tool for his toolbox at almost no cost, and he's a proven in Serie A player who has the ability to make a difference in spurts.

I'm guessing this option has zero chance of being redeemed, but you never know.

Perisic is getting older and it’s good to have replacement ready. He will have full year to adapt without huge expectations and if he proves himself he can jump in Pero’s boots. If not, we threw 5 millions, not 35 like in Gabigol case.

We are absolutely ready in attacking department with his arrival.

I like this signing. Call me crazy, but I'm more excited about this guy than Modric (maybe because I knew that Modric was never happening to begin with).

Young
Serie A proven
Ruthless finisher
Very skilled and talented
Fast as fuck
Unpredictable
Likes to beat and take on defenders
Ambidextrous
Has every potential to be a world beater

What is there not to like? The only flaws that I have heard of Keita is his allegedly 'bad attitude' and inconsistency, but we can't really rule him out based on all these claims, at least until he acts like an ass with us. He is no Balotelli though. More like Ljajic perhaps. But Ljajic during his spell here never acted like an ass, and never really had a bad game. Thanks to fucking Mancini, we sent him away.

Just coz Ljajic was good here doesn't mean Keita will also be good.

Although we do have the majestic Valero in the locker room who everyone looks up to now, so hopefully he can teach Keita some life lessons.

I've read that he's not a very intelligent player. How much truth is there to that?

If you ask me, a lot of truth. He is very, very talented, his finishing is superb and not to mention his pace and dribbling.

But his footballing IQ is low. Maybe he has grown a bit, havent seen him in Monaco. In Lazio, he had awful offside awareness, he may have been the player with most offsides. His decision making is below par, often tries to dribble instead of making an easy pass, and is a ball hog. many times makes extra move which is not needed. Hence he wasn't starter in Lazio either despite scoring a lot and being probably their most talented player. He got better at these aspects as the season ended tho.

That was my issue with him. Couldn't care less how he acts outside the pitch.

This is what Keita and his agent said last night:

Keita: "I'm very happy, very happy. hopefully it'll all go well tomorrow, I'll talk more then. Spalletti? He was very important for my decision to come here. anyway, I'm off to get some sleep now because I've got a great day ahead of me tomorrow."

Calenda [ag. Keita]: “Keita feels he has unfinished business in Serie A. he wants his career to take off in the country where he developed as a player. Spalletti is the perfect coach at the perfect moment for him: he can give him the winning mentality he needs.”
