That position is the hardest to play. Guy came in against shitty Salernitana (that klaasen and calhanoglu couldn't break) qnd did alot better.

He did great. 21 years old and already has flashes that he can anchor a midfield.

Playing these matches is currently his level. We can’t expect much against better opposition until he gains In confidence.

His off the ball movement is absolutely horrendous and his footballing intelligence seems to be lacking. He does not belong in the regista role and I think I am overcriticizing him because he simply should not play there and all his weakness gets exposed. He does have pretty good passing and shooting and I think he would make a decent mezzala.

I agree, but at the same time it’s not as if Brozovic or Hakan were oozing footballing intelligence before they adapted to that role.

In a lot of cases, footballing intelligence is just footballing experience.

Regista is a very difficult role to play, especially for a youngster. Had he played in any other team with lower expectations and objectives then of course it would be easier, as there is less pressure and everything else but at Inter it's another thing. He's got a vision which is a crucial attribute for a midfielder, but he needs to work on his decision making. Another thing is, Hakan's role in this team is very difficult to replace.

I mean, we ditched a player who was the key of this team for many years, to create room for Hakan, so there is a very high standard of quality performances in Inter's midfield, especially that regista spot.

I think you guys are being pretty harsh on Asllani. He might not be ready to start in many games, but under a proper regime and of course patience, he could become a very important player to this team and eventually take over Hakan's spot. He might even never make it, but there are promising signs at least.

Also just so that it s said i think it s stupid to assume he can only play against small teams... I think tactics of the opposition is gonna have a bigger impact on his game rather than how big of a team he is facing...
As in how much pressure the opponent puts on him is more important than how big a name his opponent is....

That being said obviously he should not start against big teams but imho more cause we have better players in that position rather than theres no way aslani can keep up.
