Inter midfielder Matias Vecino has been ruled out of Uruguay’s Copa America squad with a thigh injury.

Uruguay beat Ecuador 4-0 in their opening game of the tournament on Sunday night, and Vecino was forced off with around 10 minutes remaining.

The Uruguayan Football Federation stated on their official website that the midfielder was diagnosed with a muscular lesion to his right thigh and will miss out on the rest of the competition.

The 27-year-old has won 34 caps for his country and will be sorely missed, as Coach Oscar Tabarez considers him a vital cog in his engine room, starting him in every game of the 2018 World Cup.

Wouldn't really mind Vecino staying as long as he'd be the worst player of the team. Or the lineup initially. He has his uses.
As surprising as it may sound to people, he currently isn't the worst player or even close. Which is our main issue. We need to get rid of others first but with him at least we could find someone to fork out a decent amount.

I feel sorry about the guy.
I know that contes advice was to make off ball movement to the box and create space for the strikers but the way he was ignored all game by brozo and sensi which didn't even think to pass any ball to him was too funny.
It was like seeing a kid play with his older brother friends and no one deeming him worthy to be there...

If that`s really the case, I think it`s a wise decision not to pass to him, completely useless - at least in the 1st match. No wonder there are no offers for him... I hope we can bring a solid midfielder [SMS/Vidal] in by the end of mercato, so we don`t have to see much of him.
