HAVE YOU NOT HEARD?!
that Icardi has a special clause in his new contract which states: HE SHALL PLAY ALL THE MINUTES HUMANLY POSSIBLE AND RULE POSSIBLE EVEN IF HE PERFORMS HIS TRADEMARK DISAPPEARING ACT FOR THE ENTIRE 90 MINUTES AND HELPS THE TEAM IN NO WAY

Yeah it's so annoying to say the least. No matter how bad he plays, he will never be subbed

Wasn't even intentional. :yao:

I never said it was. However, 5 assists do look incredibly impressive on paper. The guy would easily have the best assists to total passes ratio in the league.

I know man I was just kidding. :p

But on the 5 assists, I don't really give much importance to such stats because they don't reflect a player's actual contribution (I don't completely neglect them though, 5 assists are still cool). A player may do all the hard work, pass it to someone who then makes an easy simple pass which leads to goal, and that assist still goes to the second player (I believe that how it works?). I rather look at the overall build up, because even a defender intercepting a ball which leads to a counter attack goal may be more important than the goal scorer himself in some cases.

Yesterday for example, there's no way I can compare Icardi's overall contribution for 90 minutes to Candreva's, even if Icardi was the one who scored the goal. If someone like Candreva is injuried, his absence would be much more crucial and visible than Icardi's.

These arguments will probably never end. Some think without him we simply would hardly ever score, some are of the opinion we would score more often with someone else up front. The fact is that it's very difficult to know either way without having a stretch without him. Personally I'll shut up about my misgivings if we ever can manage to actually average about two goals a game with him as our CF.

You can't score every game. Otherwise you'd finish the season at 38 goals. 20+ goals is a great season, and take into account games where you score >1 goals, and most games you won't be scoring even for a great season. It's pretty easy to spot Icardi's shortcomings, but we have no viable alternatives. Top strikers are expensive af and high in demand. I really don't see freaking Jovetic or Eder being any better.

Jovetic is better with the ball but he's painfully slow. At least Icardi is fast on the ball, and doesn't dick around.

Kind of reminds me of how Vieri managed to be Capocannoniere back then in season 02/03. There were periods when he didn't score in many games, but then he scored 4 goals in a game before having another streak without scoring a goal. But Vieri was always menacing though. Can't say the same about Icardi.

Of course Icardi will score a brace in our next game, or the next, or the next. Then we'll be sucking his dick again before he goes on another goalless streak of games and we'll have this debate again. It goes on and on.

True. Only difference is that Vieri doesn't fall around and cry for the referee everytime someone touches him. His physical presence alone was a major hassle for the defenders even if he doesn't score. Unlike our friend here who completely disappears and sometimes I forget that he's on the pitch (although he has improved a little with De Boer).

You can't score every game.

Yes, but you can contribute with something else.

I think everything is up to how your team is organized. Many people thought that Napoli will crash down without Iguain but they replaced him easily with Milik and they score a lot even with Milik injured! Atletico M is another example. They've lost many strikers trough years like Falcao, Aguero and Costa but always were able to replace them properly without to loose strength. We also lost our biggest star Ibrahimovic and i thought that this is a huge mistake but the team got even stronger with Milito and Etoo.
So, for me Icardi is not irreplaceable. If we receive a big offer ( 70 mln or more), i would sell him in a heartbeat. We have decent central forward like Eder and can add some fresh blood like D.Simeone for example. But this is only in case that we have established system.

Him not cooperating on the pitch with our wingers and midfielders is our biggest problem in terms of play. 90% crosses to him resulting in losing the ball and opening counter attack to opponent. In today's modern football you can't play with target man who just sit in box and waiting to put ball in the net, and that is what Icardi only does.

My question is why he can't play like he did against Juve more often. Physically he threw himself around, this caused issues for their defence. This extra effort seemed to have a positive affect on the rest of our players in the game too. When the captain is typically the laziest player on the pitch can you really expect his teammates to go the extra yard? Often it seems like Icardi is trying to conserve energy.

He is allowed to have a poor game when is the leading scorer of Serie A at the age of fuckin 23 (he is pretty damn consistent for someone of the age IMO). Some of you guys (not everyone) are clearly biased, he's scored 59 goals in 105 games for us (and let me remind you, he is 23). There are other players who need to step up, Icardi has been lethal for us.

We are all glad that he's scoring that much at that age, it is just frustrating to see him browsing through matches in anonymous mode when we know for a fact he can do much more and be more involved.

In fairness, he actually ran he's ass off pressing their goalie & back line. It's not easy being a lone striker as you're constantly outnumbered. He should have buried that header though.

I honestly cant make up my mind at all on him. I defend him a lot, but yesterday we seen EVERYTHING that makes people hate on him, and we see it too often. As Shaun said, where is that effort from the Juve game, the fucker is capable of it but never seems to give everything and rather waits for the easy chance. Was interesting seeing J.Mario go mad at him yesterday for not hitting a through pass to him when he seemed to be through, loved it.
