I really don't get what's all the hype about Hiddink. Failed to lead Russia to South Africa, failed to lead Turkey to Poland/Ukraine, win zilch at club level barring an FA Cup with Chelsea.

Yes, his 6-months tenure at Stamford Bridge was very impressive, and Russia was fascinating in Euro 08, but that's about it. Even if you credit him with South Korea's farcical run to the WC semis, that was way back in 2002.

He done a good job for Australia. They were knocked out of the WC by a farcical penalty against the eventual winners (Italy).

But i agree with you about the hype about him. I would'nt want him at Inter, He's a Mr Fix-it coach (great motivator) that just comes in, changes things around a little then takes off to another job. He's best suited to international teams for a qualification/tournement period imho.

We have a coach who didn't won league title in his entire life and he's 61 year old. So it's not a hype about Hyddink, who is world class manager. It's a hype that real coach is on market and we have Ranieri on our bench. I don't know much about Hiddink but some great thing I remember are:

1. Russia on euro
2. Chelsea killing Barca
3. Outplayed Milan with limited PSV

Even Ranieri had his moments has a manager. Leading a mediocre Roma team and challenging a Treble winning Inter for the Scudetto till the very last day in 09/10 is pretty damn impressive, even more so considering the poor start that cost Spaletti's job.

Not saying that I'd rather have Ranieri than Hiddink but it's another half-assed solution if you ask me.

Korea WC run was NOT due to management, it was due to fixing, come on, we all watched the tournament. It was a joke.

As for a change, sure, a change in management would be nice, a new President perhaps, but a new manager? Please. We have already tried 4 managers, without (financial) support from the head office it doesn't matter who our manager is, we will continue to lack a longterm strategy for the future!

Ohh, I thought it was because Hiddink's magic I watched that match but I was 6 years old back then.. I remember Totti's send off though.

what about Italys PK against Austrilla in 2006? Or Brazil & Fifa basically screwing over turkey 2x in 2002? Italy vs US in 2010 or was it 2006? USA got robbed

come on man big teams and home teams always get ref help. That's how they win many times. We were helped many times over the last couple seasons. I also remember Henrys hand ball last WCQ. I think Korea beat Italy fair and square in 2002 but Spain got robbed I think they scored like 10 goals that game and all were offsides somehow.

wtf, now hiddink is available...
id have him over pep next year, cr is gonna leave. i hate to have a 5th coach now but i really dont think we will keep him. whats to stop mm from saying thanks but we want a real coach? with so many coaches available in the summer i think there will be a switch. be it pep, hiddink, capello or who ever.

Fuck Capello tbh. I'll be very disappointed if MM goes in that direction.

If Ranieri doesn't stick around and honestly, I doubt he does, I don't want anymore bandaid solutions. Get a younger manager and STICK WITH HIM! I suggest Unai Emery. One of the best young managers in the game imo. His Valencia squads are constantly raided for their best players but he gets them in the CL every season and they usually do well in said competition.

The problem is that some people think that the "great" teams have a birth right to always win. Yes, there were questionable decisions, specially in the Spain game, but it wasn't that outrageous either, it was under the norm of referees mistakes, against Italy there was absolutely nothing. Didn't Spain just won a WC with a horrible offside goal that came from a corner that wasn't given to Netherlands, and Italy got some questionable calls on their favor in the 2006 WC too.

Anyways about Hiddink, let's see how it goes with Ranieri. I would really like some continuity, so if Moratti keeps Ranieri next season I want it to be because he absolutely thrust him and it's going to build a real project, if not he should look for someone that he really believes in, and not some afterthought that he's gonna fire in the middle of the season. The team needs a coach that gets some time on the post, at least 2 years. I hope this would be Ranieri, but let's see how it goes for the rest of the first.

Yes, but the fact a lot of people forget to mention is that there were 3 yeah, but only 1 was onside and it was really close. I agree about the Italy game. By the way you said about Brazil vs Turkey, I remember that in the group Turkey got really scrubbed, but in the semi-final I don't remember anything out of order, and I've watched that game more than a couple of times, am I missing something.

About USA, they were disallowed a goal against Germany in 2006 if I remember correctly. In 2010 there was something else against them but I think they won that game. :chan: FFS I can't remember anything about USA.

Won zilch at the club level? LOL did you forget that he managed PSV???

- 6 Eredivisie Titles
- 4 KNVB Cups
- 1 Dutch Super Cup
- 1 EUROPEAN CUP

He did everything he could with Chelsea, he took over a team in 4th place, 7 points behind the leaders. He only lost 1 match in the league and was knocked out of Champions League by the referees...I mean Barcelona.

Cavani is just a hot-streak player. Napoli's success is all about Lavezzi, not Cavani. I still don't rate Cavani anywhere as high as probably most of the people who just watch "OMG he scores so much".
