Well, call me overly optimistic but the gap with Napoli for the 3rd is 10pts. Beat them now and we have 7 points gap and there are still 13 more games (39 pts for grabs) so technically there's still some illusory hope of us achieving something in the league. I'm really really sceptic we can do shit in the EL so that's why the Napoli tie looks much more important for me. Even if we were a great team with little flaws things could easily get hairy in a knockout competition. In the end we've done shit all so far so we should try for both, players and coach are getting paid to play and win and I expect them to at least try, we can't allow ourselves the luxury of prioritising one competition over another.

I would have agreed with you if Inter were in 4th place, 10 points behind Napoli. But we are in 9th place. Even if we beat Napoli, we will probably be 8 points behind Lazio, and 7 points behind Napoli and Fiorentina, etc. All of these teams will not fuck up in the last 13 rounds.

I agree that our chances of winning in EL are shit. But our chances to finish in top 3 in Serie A are worse than shit.

If we had beaten Fiorentina and now Napoli, the gap would've been only 4 points. We might've had a chance but even if we win this one, the gap will be 7 points. Still not good enough.

Even though we'll have seven points there's still a handful of teams ahead of us so its not really possible, but Napoli are far from unbeatable we can win on Sunday.

I think we can get a result, I still think we lost against Fiorentina because we were wasteful rather than because we're terrible like most people here think.

I think we're terrible.

If we're motivated, we can get this game. Napoli isn't consistent team (neither we are), and the Lazio's match might have influence on their form. I hope Podolski and Camagnaro to be out of the pitch this time.

Well my only problem is our attack Palacio hasn't been at his best but by default he is better than Poldi, however I think Poldi will play since he won't be available on thursday. JJ over Ranocchia because Mancio seems to have more faith in JJ and Vidic and JJ have been playing together for a while no so no reason to rock the boat. I think my other pics are obvious, it's a solid team.

Watched Napoli against Lazio um it was a terrible first half LAzio dominated, Basta of all people was giving them problems. Lazio deserved to lead but then in the second half Lazio were terrible and Napoli took control and got the equalizer. It was nothing spectacular and as I said before they are not better than us, if we take our chances we can get the result.

Every time when I start to except something from this team they do everything to disappoint me. Same thing happens in last 4-5 seasons without Mourinho.

Only positive thing was Leonardo and than he left.

Now with Thohir I see most positive things in last 4 years but we don't have enough luck. Against Fiorentina Guarin hits a bar, Icardi misses a sitter and Palacio didn't give a pass what he usually does.

Let's hope that we will be luckier against Napoli.

Well if he's tired maybe he shouldn't be training.

If he has any fatigue at all he should be rested for Wolfsburg.

Without a presence of superstar talent, grimy pitch quality, and a vicious press, I think the Serie A has done pretty well for itself given the state of the economy in Italy. I would attribute the tightness of the league table to the parity (italian teams are tactically strong enough without star power to at least compete with the top clubs)It could be worse, like in Spain where the top two win 5-0 eeeevery fuckin week, and the press suck their dicks accordingly.

Edit: irrelevant tangent. My bad, but still.

I am usually very optimistic but I don't think we stand a chance of getting third. We had a decent chance if we beat fiorentina because we would close the gap on Napoli and Fiorentina but now they're both way above us. Fiorentina are also in fine form and so is Lazio. Reaching third place is improbable unless we manage to win 10 out of our last 13 Serie A Games and even then it's still difficult. It's not a bad thing though, we can focus everything on the Europa League and hope that we can make it through that route. If we can't manage that, then we just look forward to next season. Unlike last season we can be optimistic about our chances for next season because of the players we brought in. We're building a very good team so as long as we continue the wise moves in the summer we should gradually get back to the top.

Murillo, Brozovic, Shaqiri, Santon are all new and they improve our starting XI.

I believed we can win easily against Fiorentina. We would have - if we could score.

Not i don't think we can even get close to the Napoli goal. But sometimes, as Inter fan, i learned that in these cases, one good moment of a player and we can win. That has happened before, even after 2010, when we will lose three in a row against Cagliari, Cesena and Chievo, and win/draw against Juve or Napoli

The focus shouldn't be third it should be developing a team and a style of play. Next season we must aim for CL but this one is about laying foundations.
