I disagreed. Because his linkup was non existent. And he wasn't tested at the highest level. Great yes, world class no. They are levels to this.Only someone blind and foolish wouldn't agree with that back when those conversations were happening.
You're over thinking it. Not trying to.come across as contrarian, merely a general wondering. Go ahead and list these areas/skillsets in which Barella excels, you have my curiosity. But getting back to your original question about Barella, it seems like you're asking the wrong question, or perhaps you're asking a loaded question, like the one "Have you finally stopped cheating on your wife?".
Whatever aspect of his game I highlight as world-class, you'll just name another player who excels in that area or skill (even if it's just by a little or by a significant margin), and then refute my argument.
Rubbish. Barella is not benching Valverde (coverage/discipline/durability), B Silva/KDB (creativity/shooting) or Kimmich (delivery/leadership). FDJ....What I can confidently say about Barella being world-class is the fact that he comfortably secures a spot in every team in the world, consistently elevating the performance of whichever team he's on, without ever compromising on quality.
Hasn't progressed like he should have but we've seen his ability in UCL when the team is built around his strengths. Would dynamic Barella be a better fit for Barca?
