Guys, if we want Cigano, we are going to pay full price. No discounts. Pinto da Costa doesn't play that sh*t.

Porto President "Calm" After CL Ban
FC Porto chairman Pinto da Costa has surpringly claimed that he is in tranquil mood, despite the fact that his team are on the verge of missing out on Champions League football.

The Portuguese champions were today sentenced a one-year ban from European competitions after UEFA investigated the allegations of corrupting the referee in two domestic games in the 2003/04 season.

According to UEFA, FC Porto can appeal against this ban within three days of the sending of the decision.

The Dragons' chairman has indicated that porto will indeed appeal against this decision to the UEFA Appeals Body and, if necessary, to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Da Costa is confident that his club won't be excluded from the Champions League, justifying: "From now on, this matter will be handled by experts in law matters. We are already working on our appeal, not only in Portugal, but also in Switzerland."

He further added that Porto opted not to appeal against the six points docked from this campaign because, if the club had done so, the points could end up being deducted next season instead.

The Porto president explained, meanwhile, that even if Porto do not play in the Champions League next season- and it will be "absurd" if they don't, according to him - it won't cause the departure of the squad's most important players, like want-away Ricardo Quaresma.

"Quaresma has a €40 million release clause and if someone offers that fee, no one can stop him from going except if he does not want to," he said.

"We want to win on the field, because we are the best," he added.

Looks like Porto will use it to support their appeal and play in CL

This is wrong. Quaresma would have to be stupid, and I don't think any footballer is that stupid, when he thinks of his future carear.

Quaresma's contract was coming to the end before he renewed it at the beginning of the year. Quaresma wanted to leave, that's certain. So what would be the point of renewing that, and thus, making it more difficult for the big club, that he certainly wishes, to get him, because of the clausule, because Porto can say, he has 4 years left in his contract, instead of 1.

Quaresma must have been made a promise, that club won't make any problems if the offer is right, and 40 Mil is a lot, even for a player like Quaresma.

Porto president is saying all this crap, so the clubs will offer as much as they can, but I'm sure noone will give them 40 Mil. From what we know, we didn't made our offer yet, and Pool last year or couple of years back, made an offer of something around 20 Mil.

30 Mil is I think the right amount, and if Porto would reject it, Quaresma would be very unhappy one, and we all know there is no worker from a "slave".

In porto, their president Pinto makes an agreement a year in advance about players who wants to leave. Such an agreement was made last summer, thats why Quaresma didnt leave last summer despite good offers, but he will this summer and is saying so as well.

How high the fee will get to the 40m € release clause depends on the amounts of teams interested and how big offers they recieve. So basicly dont hope for a bidding war with Real/chelsea or the fee could very well go in the 30-40m€ catagory, but if there arent many other suiters we could well get him cheaper.

Quaresma will leave even if the release clause isnt met, its been agreed within the club that he is leaving this summer.

I'm not sure, but I think that we can get Quaresma for 40M, with or without the bidding wars against the other clubs.

If Quaresma only wants Inter, then he'll reject the other offers, but accept the only offer that matches the 40M which belongs to Inter. Is that true? if it is, then I see no reason why not to sign him.

He is way overpriced I know, but we don't have many big transfers this summer to make anyway, so let's just spend on the 24 year old winger.

Unless we're really after Essien, then he should be our top priority, not Quaresma. The rest are cheap, as far as I know.

40m is toooo much. Like I've said, I might pay that for C.Ron or Messi.

Quaresma is playing in the freaking Portuguese League, 15m-20m at the most if Mourinho really wants him...

30m for Quaresma? He hasn't proved anything to make him worth more than an absolute max of 20m.

We will get him for 20-25 mil. If Porto rejects our offer Quaresma will start complaining, training bad and so on. Good for us.

you guys are overhyping this. I'm almost possitibe and highly dought we have made any contact with him, despite the rumors. Sure having quaresma as an inter starter is almost a dream, but how likely is this. Mustafa, if what you say actually happens, great, but what makes you think it will. Until i see him or his agent personally say he may be going to inter, then i will put aside all rumors!!!!

You have a point. Inter is his most likely destination. If he plays good at EURO he will defenately will move, so lets hope...

Well if we want to sign him, we should act soon.

Real Madrid are apparently offering 25m€ for him.

Even though Real is a good team I believe he will prefer Inter, considering that we have Mourinho.

He has stated several times in the past that he prefers real.

That was before Mourinho came tho, but i doubt he would mind going to Madrid.

Quaresma had no reason to join us when Mancini was here. Now with Mourinho in charge, he has every reason to join the club.

Ofc you wont, you are a fan.

Quaresma, however, is just a guy looking for a big paycheck, so i doubt he will really mind who wins a bidding war between Inter and Real.

Either is good for him.

If it was only about money then all the players would play in Qatar. The club owners over there pay so much money for 35+ year old players they can easily pay couple of millions for players like Quaresma.

Of course it isn't just about money,it is that Quaresma would get about the same salary either at Real or Inter, it doesn't matter which one is it. And both are top clubs in Europe (though Inter hasn't been that good for a long long time). So the point is, it doesn't matter which top club Quaresma chooses, he will get his salary wherever he goes.
