So yeah, let's regret selling Robbie Keane [for almost the same price we got him] because he would have disposed: Ronaldo, Vieri, Recoba, Crespo, Adriano, Cruz, Ibrahimovic or even Oba Martins from our offensive lineups :D Same applies to Mutu to a large extent.

So yeah, let's focus on Keane and Mutu from the selection of Carlos, Coutinho, Pirlo, Canavaro, Seedorf, Bergkamp...

Roberto Carlos. The blame is on Roy freaking Hodgson and Moratti for listening to him.
Coutinho, the blame is only about the price tag. His impact wouldn't have been as important at Inter unless we played in Europe every year.
Pirlo is a huge one.
Seedorf is also a very big one.
Cannavaro was a terrible deal of business but the guy was threatened and then threatened us to leave for Juventus. Couldn't do much, but obviously could have gotten something like 15-20m for him.
Bergkamp? Please don't tell that again. Like Coutinho, he was pretty good in European fixtures but he was below average in Serie A. Couldn't cut it. Wanted to move to Spain and was advised to move to England because his style suited that more. We almost got relegated (1 point clear) with Bergkamp as our leader.

Spain is a place where he will shine even more than at EPL if you ask me...by all logical standards anyway
Italy for a youngster is the hardest place to grow...not for everybody
No patience...for kid growing
Except Atalanta,Cagliari and Udinese grow kids...and Samp yeah
He was sold because Branca was a tool yes it was FFP orientated but he couldn't sell Ricky who was spared in the process
Branca wanted to sell Icardi After a season ffs but MM put a halt on that...

It's just funny because we haven't had a capable player in his position since Sneijder left. How much we could do with him this season! But yeah, he was poor during his time here but I think everyone could see he had talent but us, idiots.

We're hardly a club for 'Dieci' players to shine. Recoba was misused, Roberto freaking Baggio was benched, Beccalossi was underappreciated by all. Mazzola was probably the only #10 that was heralded as elite by all as an Inter player.
We've had attempts to use players trying to fill that role that weren't really trequartistas like Matthaus, Berti for a brief moment, Djorkaeff, Stankovic as well, we tried to put Kovacic there but he wasn't really one either, Hernanes, Guarin too, Jovetic. But the talent we tried to fill that spot with has been underwhelming. Ricardo Alvarez and Ruben freaking Botta come to mind. For some reason, we've been viewing that position as a lottery ticket.

Oh, and Coutinho isn't really one either. His best moments were as a left winger cutting in. And everyone could see the talent, the problem was making it work in Serie A and in his age.

Recoba was inconsistent and injury prone.

Stankovic was good there albeit he was criticised by a lot of people here who would probably today give their left nut just to see him play again today.

I don't think Coutinho is worth 142 million, he's not a guy who can grab a team by the scruff of the neck and change games and teams who are tactically sound can block him out of play. He's very talent but he's no Messi. That being said, if a club bought Alvarez he'd would have probably been sold later in the summer because at Inter everyone's a scapegoat.

He was talented but he never could gather the strength to make the difference, he would always get fouled or get the ball disposed off him, his shots were also weak. It just seemed he didn't have confidence in himself. I am sure with time he could have developed into a good player and truth be told he never got a consistent run as a starter.

Andrea Stramaccioni reveals what prompted Inter to sell Philippe Coutinho to Liverpool for €13m five years ago. “We had to balance the books.”

The Brazilian found fame at San Siro as a very young man, leaving for Anfield in January 2013, but only five years later completed a transfer worth at least €120m to Barcelona.

“I am not surprised by Coutinho’s move, as Phil has improved a lot in the Premier League, and above all playing for Brazil, so he deserved a top club,” former Inter Coach Stramaccioni told Panorama magazine.

“He was able to work on his weaknesses and go for goal more, while also working off the ball. Phil had made his debut at Inter under Rafa Benitez and was a protagonist of my team.

“Coutinho started really well, but Wesley Sneijder was in his position, so obviously there was a lot of competition for playing time. His evolution was already in progress.

“The offer from Liverpool was hard to resist and his desire to go to England proved decisive. It was a difficult moment and Cou was one of the few young prospects we had with such a high value on the market.

“We needed to balance the books and his sale was followed by Sneijder’s departure. I understood and respected the decision made by (then-directors) Marco Branca and Piero Ausilio, albeit with a heavy heart.

“Nobody was happy with his sale, because we could tell even then he had enormous potential. I am still in contact with Philippe, as he always was and still is an exceptional lad. Along with his technical quality, he has remarkable humility and a great work ethic.

“He has a wonderful girl by his side who grew up with him and helped him remain the same boy he was in Brazil. That helped his enormous talent on the field to develop fully.”

In 2013, we sold Coutinho for 13m because we have to balance the book.

5 years later, Coutinho goes to Barca as the second most expensive player. And we still have to balance the book....

Not only to balance the books they never believed in him, he was just a sub. It's a failure in every level and as usual we don't know how to sell or buy.

He has matured but the thing is that Coutinho fits perfectly to Barca tikitaka posession based style. He never fitted Inter's game. You need to be pretty tough and deliver right away. There is little space to fancy stuff.
