A) Our goal was marginally offside.
B) de Vrij and D'Ambrosio are having serious issues on that right side. Both are getting fucked over by the PSV wingers and Spalletti needs to figure who he replaces D'Ambrosio with at half time. And both were at fault for 1) the goal we conceded - de Vrij left Lozano gain possession and create that long chance that led to their goal and 2) it was them again that caused the Handanovic handball debacle.
C) Handanovic's reaction to come out was excellent. His execution, not so much.
No clue on what the actual rule is here. Him touching the ball with the hand does not seem intentional. I think the ref decided that since it was not a goal scoring chance. The rulebook
It was wide, the PSV player did not have control of the ball, there was a defender incoming as soon as he'd retrieve the ball, plus we had 1 or 2 players standing near the goal.
I think the goalkeeper is just like another outfield player in that rule when the handball is not intentional and not preventing a clear goal (which I think usually means, next simple touch or lack of handball = a goal is scored). But as FIFA goes, it's always rather vague. A
A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off if he commits any of the
following seven offences:
• serious foul play
• violent conduct
• spitting at an opponent or any other person
• denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity
by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within
his own penalty area)
• denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving
towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a
penalty kick
• using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures
• receiving a second caution in the same match
The rulebook uses the word 'subsequent' for goalscoring opportunities where advantage is played for example, which is why the ref may be right here.
D) Anyone not seeing that Icardi is having a positive effect tonight needs to watch the PSV-Inter game and they'll see it.
E) We need to get help to Perisic in attack. He's all alone and he can be our most dangerous player here.
F) Once again, get D'Ambrosio out of there. And no Skriniar on the right please.
