I hate being hard on Dimarco but defensively he is as bad as any of the mediocre wingbacks we’ve had over the last decade. And attacking wise he’s very physically limited. If he is genuinely meant to be the starter I don’t think we’re a top four team anymore.

Sosa is probably the best available option right now but he would suffer defensively in Italy. He needs to work a lot on positioning and defence.

The most infuriating thing is there were many quality options on the market this summer. Raum, Kostic, Angelino, Reguillon, Udogie. But as usual, our timing is terrible.

They need to look at fast, solid wingbacks from a middle or bottom table premier league club, reserves even. It will not happen though cos our scouting network barely crosses the alps, but that would be a smart thing to do.
