PALACIO: "THANK YOU FOR FIVE GREAT YEARS"

"I’m proud to have played for one of the biggest clubs in the world. My fondest memory is the backheel in the derby," said the Argentine striker

MILAN – Rodrigo Palacio
thanked the Nerazzurri faithful for their support on Sunday night as he bid farewell to the club after five years in Milan.

"I feel very emotional. I want to thank the fans and everyone who works at Inter," said the Argentine.

"It’s been an incredible five years. I’m proud to have played for one of the biggest clubs in the world and to end with a win was a fitting finale. I’m sure the club will do better next season. I’d like to stay in Italy for another year, but I’ll have to see where.

"I take a great deal from this experience. I’ve had five amazing years from a personal perspective too. My family have loved it here in Milan and the city will always be in my heart."

Palacio went on to reveal his personal highlight from his time at Inter.

"The backheel goal in the derby was amazing. That’s my fondest memory," he said.

"I felt a bit sad during the week thinking about saying goodbye, but I’m happy to have been shown so much love. Vecchi has helped the team out at a tough time and I want to thank him also."

Stefano Vecchi then gatecrashed Palacio’s interview to pay tribute to the Argentine in person.

"He’s an example for everyone, especially the Primavera lads that have worked with us," said the Inter coach.

Moved to former players & coaches section. La Grande poll is up, however If I'm being honest it's really more of a curtesy.

They could do worse seeing as they're going to be in Europe next year. The question is will he be okay earning peanuts.

thanks for 3 out of 5 good years. Would have been sadder if he hadn't cost us over 5 million euro past 2 seasons to basically do nothing but take the spot of a youth player.

You wanna know the magic cure for cancer, aids, and for just about every disease in the world?

Stop watching Inter, and you'll feel like a healthy man again.

Man, we were even more depressed at 2014

On a second thought we did have Mazzarri then, understandable.

so pioli wants palacio?

i wonder if it is true. in that case, it would probe once more why italian football and national team are behind spain and germany: because there are coaches who prefer a boiled player over younger people.

i mean, i would understand an experienced player, but palacio is way beyond that point

Grande Pioli. Give Palacio a starting role at Fiorentina and bench Bernadeschi and Chiesa.

For sure he wants him for his mentality and his hard work.
Nothing wrong with it, young players like Chiesa and Bernardeschi can learn a lot from a player like Palacio.
It is not that Fiorentina want him as a starter, so where's the problem?

Well I was obviously joking but in his last season and a half Palacio had deteriorated to the point he couldn't even be relied on for basic ball trapping and keeping possession. What value does that provide Fiorentina? Contributing to a positive locker room environment is not enough for a professional top-flight footballer, let alone on his wages. He needs to contribute on the pitch, which sadly, Palacio has provided zero evidence of being capable of for years. He's not a third keeper.

When you say like that ... maybe we should keep him?
